* Have you ever read books about the Olympics?
* About sports in general?
* Fictional? Or non-fiction?
* Do you consider yourself a sports fan?
* Do you watch sports movies?
I have never read a book about the Olympics, but I did recently read the non-fiction Quiet Strength: The Principles, Practices, & Priorities of a Winning Life by Tony Dungy, coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Someone gave it to my husband, and any book laying around here gets read by me.
I am NOT a sports fan; funny you should ask; however, I have become addicted to the Olympics. (Please see my most recent post.)
I do watch sports movies because I am married to the world's number one sports
How do you answer this week's question?
Ques. #1 no
ReplyDeleteQues. #2 no
But I am like you mesmerized by Michael Phelps. I am like a proud mother of that boy!! He is amazing and like you I am staying up late to watch his races and I get sooo excited with every race.
How can such a young man have so much stamina and so much strength to keep up that routine.
He swims, eats, sleeps, does extra drug testing, interviews he can't have much time to recoup yet he has been doing so very well.
He is truly an amazing athelete. Hooray for Michael and for all that he has done to make his country proud..his friends and family proud..and most certainly himself.
There's something about the Olympics that makes even non-sports fans want to watch. I think it's the support for their respective countries, as well as seeing a number of huge sports names get together. :D
ReplyDeleteThat said, I don't really consider myself as a fan of sports... just reading in general :D
Here's mine. Happy BTT!
How was the Tony Dungy book? I'm generally turned off by the motivational/inspiration sports book, and I don't think I'll be reading it, but I'd love an opinion from someone well-read.
ReplyDeleteI read the Tony Dungy book recently and shortly after finishing it I ran into him at a church 4th of July event here in Tampa. He is a very nice man and seems quite humble. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and don't typically like motivational types but do like sports. I found it in more inspriational than motivational and his strong faith and sense of self amazing given the world in which he works. I recommend this read.
ReplyDeleteYou can't be married to the worlds number one sports enthusiast because I am. LOL
ReplyDeletehehe married to a sports nut :)
ReplyDeletewell we don't do sports in this family. Can you believe my husband hates ball games ? Sometimes I am glad too . :0) :0)
ReplyDeleteBut boy does he like westerns ! I really get sick and tirs of watching those with him . Maybe that is why I took up blogging . hehehehe
Have a blessed day Sally
I don't watch the Olympics. I think the last sports book I read was in high school. I do, however, enjoy sports movies. Go figure LOL!
ReplyDeleteI used to be a HUGE Red Sox fan. I still like them but I don't feel the need to watch or listen to every game.
take care,
Dawn
I haven't read many motivational sports books...mostly, memiors and coming of age stuf... and I think in that way, some of them ar very good.
ReplyDeleteand yes...who isn't in awe of Michael Phelps?
No and no for me as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been following swimming, gymnastics, and diving of the Olympics. But other than the thrill and awe of the amazing performances and tight competition, I don't watch sports.
I don't watch , because I am usually asleep by then . We use to watch tennis , cause we played. We don't play anymore, but still watch some. Kathy
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about Tony Dungy's book and would LOVE to read it. I think I'm one of the few sports fans and sports book readers among us. I like your open-mindedness about picking up that book and reading it even though you aren't a sports fan. YOU ARE A READER!!! Yay!! :)
ReplyDeleteDidn't realize until today that Tony Dungy had written a book. Interesting. Not that I'm likely to read a motivational book, but he certainly should know something about the "winning life"!
ReplyDeleteI love sports movies. And I read a book about Canadian Olympic heroes last year. I even found a fella with the same last name as us which was a suprise as we don't have a common name.
ReplyDeleteI love watching the Olympics. You just can't feel the excitement holding a book about it. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog! It's nice to meet a new blogger :-)Have a good weekend!

In our house, I'm the sports fan - I'm lucky if my husband can tell the difference between a football and baseball game!
ReplyDeleteI love baseball. That's the only sport I really like. I can't get into the Olympics for some reason. I do watch sports movies, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
