~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Here is a picture of the Swedish artist, Göran Wärff, who works for Kosta Boda. His work is represented at museums in USA, Japan, Australia and Europe. I have an engraved blue vase made by Göran Wärff. Engraved pieces also have his signature near the designer's name.
Even though it's a designer piece, I bought it because I love it. When I first saw it, I gasped aloud. I especially like the three colors in the vase and the shape of it. It's quite heavy.
My vase sits on the coffee table in my living room. It's especially beautiful on bright days. If you look closely, or if you click the picture, you can see rows of dots. I don't know how he does such precise work as that.
When the sun shifts, different angles seem to appear. You can see the rows of dots better in this shot. There is "movement" in the piece.
Looking from another angle, the sculpture changes completely.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! I am thankful for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful work of art that vase is. I love how the light adds to its beauty!
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome vase. My mom would like that. She leans toward things that are blue. I may have to use some of her things for a Blue Monday post sometime.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! It looks substantial. I like how the blue is at the bottom, too. It is really cool how he has the dots placed. Ill have to look him up. Does he do work in other colors, too? ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteNice meeting you,
That vase reminds me about my vase created by Finnish artist Tapio Wirkkala. A bottom of my vase was exactly same kind, the vase was dark red and a little different shape.
ReplyDeleteMy father got it 1966 and he gave unfortunately it to me. I drop it when I was clumsy because of my pregnancy - the vase was broken.
I am still sad about it!
Your vase is beautiful, keep a good care about it :)
What a heavenly blue tone in that vase! I can imagine the amazing play of light as sunlight falls around it!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a beautiful piece of artwork! I loooove vases too!
Sorry Sally, late last night I left a comment, and a link but did a scheduled post--something went wrong somewhere... if you knew me you'd know I ALWAYS follow the rules! I even went back and read my comment-don't know why it's gone... Your blog page takes up too much band width on my computer and takes forever to load so this will probably be the last time I get to play.. what a shame. Happy Blue Monday and thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteI'm just getting caught up after being gone a few days. The apple butter bar recipe was on my blog a week or so ago; perhaps you picked it up there. Have a great day. Sally
