How cute the comic is! Our church actually has a team shirt Sunday. Of course, I wear Penn State. Remember when we wore hats to church, or am I dating myself?
Cute, Sally!!!! I think we do --as a society--pay more attention to sports than we do God... Just think of the money those sports figures make and how we are paying for all of that. The cartoon may be funny--but someone makes a good point!!! Hugs, Betsy
We don't have that "problem " over here, so I wouldn't know ;-) But it's important to have fun and LIVE.. So I am sure God would see through his fingers on this one!! HE is good you know!
Good question Sally. I should ask my dh that question. However, he always goes to church with me and gladly. Football in our family is BIG, that is for sure. Loved your cartoon.
We probably do. You know me. My plea is for balance. However, I have sense enough to know that when it comes to the world, football, and the things of God--we are never going to get balance. (Come to think about, there is no probably about it. We do indeed, give more attention to football than to the things of God)
In the first place i don't like foot ball at all!! So that lets me off of the hook right? Smile. Thanks for stopping by..today is Mike and my 45th wedding anniversary already!! WOW!! We have had a good day just being together...that is enough...Sandy
Hi Sally, your post hit it. It is my first winter here in US, and I have observed this football season, too, it made my husband rush going bak home from church. Not all Sundays though. But I didn't realized it is also the Pastor's struggle to keep his congregation just because of that football. :(
Oh, by the way, I am here in Michigan and we will be moving to Naples, Florida soon. I am so excited about it. :) May you have a blessed Sunday, Sally.
I'm so thankful none of my guys are into football! I even kind of hate to hear men at church Sunday night talking about the games they watched that afternoon. I've nothing against the game or how they spend their time, but...I don't know, I just don't want to hear it at church.
Hey Sally; How cute is that cartoon. lol just love, and during football season some out there do kind of put football first. Me I don't care for the game myself... oh dear do I hear some Booooo's sorry.... lol
Sally, isn't it unfortunate that the cartoon is so true. So many people view going to church as an obligation or a chore... when in reality.. it is a privilege.
You're right.. I don't allow comments on my "So, God are you listening" blog due to some of the types of comments made on a previous prayer blog I managed. I keep it pure, without comment... but you are always welcome to post your thoughts on my French Lique blog...
Hi Sally, I'm sorry I'm posting late to your Blue Monday, and that I cheated and used the same S&T post! I'll do better next week! I did try to do it late last night, but you didn't have the Mr. linky up yet. I have a weekly Monday morning Faith Sharing meeting at 9 a.m. and don't turn on the puter until afternoon, or night, so I may always be late with my posts. If you prefer I not do it this way, please let me know.
Cute cartoon Sally... Thanks for posting it. I always love your Sunday funnies... Have a blessed Sunday

I hate football and I live in a big football town . UT Kathy
ReplyDeleteGood post! Even though many of us would not want to admit it, any form of entertainment that takes our eyes off God, is an idol! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

Sally that is a good one! LOL! I have seen people sit in the back of the church with those tiny TV's....

ReplyDeleteHow great it would be if people were as enthusiastic about God and His kingdom as they are about sports.
ReplyDeleteCute cartoon.
