Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A part of me is Irish, and I'm proud to celebrate my heritage today. As a small child, my mother always made certain that I wore some green on this special day.  Join in the fun of the Green day whether or not you've any Irish blood to brag about.

Pinching is a relatively new thing; we did not do this when I was a youngster. I understand it's totally an American invention; the Irish tsk their tongues at us!

I recently discovered that Danny Boy was written by an Englishman!

If you're looking for some fantastic music to go along with the celebration, click below. See if you can hold still while you listen. I sure can't!

I hope that you have a corned beef and cabbage dinner tonight!

  3. Happy Saint Patricks Day to you Sally! You mentioned the pinching-- my great grandmother that was Scotish Irish would tell her grandcildren that we are protestant Irish we were to wear orange on St. Patricks Day. It always got you pinched unless you wore green with it. Should have known the pinching was American. :o)
And we have Reuben Casserole -- Covers both Corn beef and cabbage!

  11. Morning, Dear One! Top 'o the mornin' to ye! Not too long ago I found out part of my heritage is Irish too - my grandad name Cushing/Cushen.

I love the song Danny Boy. Have you heard "He Looked Beyond My Faults" - words by Dottie Rambo and sung to the tune of Danny Boy? It's beautiful!

  16. English??? I always heard it was a Scot. As a matter of fact, I heard the story on "As The World Turns" when one of the Stewarts sang "Danny Boy" to his son Dan. LOL!

Whoever, whatever, it's a lovely tune, and no one sings it better than an Irish tenor and no one plays it better than James Galway!

Love to ye, Sally girl, and a Happy Saint Paddy's Day, too!

    Erin go braugh...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  23. Great music. Corned beef and cabbage? Probably not! I don't guess having a polish dog with sauerkraut at Costco for lunch would count. Nah! That wouldn't do it!
