Christimas in July

My friend, Diane at A Picture is Worth A Thousand... hosts 2nd Time Around. She's a creative and crafty lady. She finds what some may think is not worth much, and paints it or tweaks it a bit and creates a thing of beauty, function, and/or value for her home. If you'd like to join in the fun, click on the link.

Diane is a Thrift Shop Queen; she comes up with the best finds. I've never been one who shops at thrift stores, but Blogland has educated me. I stopped in one place and then another. Sometimes I find something; sometimes, there is nothing that interests me, but it's always an adventure. I'm beginning to understand what Diane has been talking about!

The item I'm sharing today was purchased from a thrift store in July when all Christmas items were 50% off! This set of four cute coasters in their holder was 75¢. They look unused. All are more red than the picture shows.

I'm looking forward to using them in December! With all of my things packed up and sitting in the warehouse, this may turn out to be the center of my Christmas decor!

  10. I can SOOOOO relate to this post! I'm new to blogging and from all the reading about thrift store shopping, I'm new to that too! I'm not very good yet - in fact a few really good items have SLIPPED past me but I'm loving the "anticipation of a treasure hunt".

You must have had a fun day too. I really like the coasters. They will be perfect soon. "Tis the season" is just around the corner!

  15. I love thrift shops. Sometimes the smell in them is a little musty...
so I always keep a little perfume in my purse and dab just a bit above my upper lip, before I go in.

    Love the coasters.

  17. Hello Sally, I love your coasters and thrifting. I did lots of it while I was in KC. Now I can have quite a few things to share on Tuesdays.

I am checking on the value of your cups and saucers. I'll let you know.

The items I shared today do not belong to me. They are in the basement of my sil's home. Some very lovely antiques though. I covet the spooner even though it is black with tarnish. I sold one like it when I was in the antique business. sigh!

Have a wonderful day. I hope your new home is finished by Christmas. what do you think?

Remember the book I won about 'Josh Hamiltan?' I saw him play ball on Sat. night in KC. I will post it after I read his book.

    Have a happy day.

    Hugs...Jeanne

  18. I have been looking for Christmas things already. The manager from the hotel just called and gave us a refund for the night stay in Ky. Hubby filled out a comment card. I know it was not a good one.hehe The tv went out and the hot water was low, besides the fire alarm. Kathy

  27. Nice looking coasters. When I was a young minister I spent a lot of time in Thrift Stores looking for books. Serendipity! It was absolutely amazing the great books I found.

  28. I'd hardly a thrifty-pro ... but certainly enjoy the hunt... as long as I'm not searching for anything in particular. No expectations seems to be the key!
I ditto Pam (above) ... use 'em now!
