As Kitty Kallen sang in 1954, "Little Things Mean A Lot." If you're interested, I'm including a copy of her singing this lovely song. I've included the lyrics so that you can sing along.
Blow me a kiss from across the room
Say I look nice when I'm not
Touch my hair as you pass my chair
Little things mean a lot
Give me your arm as we cross the street
Call me at six on the dot
A line a day when you're far away
Little things mean a lot
Don't have to buy me diamonds or pearls
Champagne, sables, and such
I never cared much for diamonds and pearls
'cause honestly, honey, they just cost money
Give me a hand when I've lost the way
Give me your shoulder to cry on
Whether the day is bright or gray
Give me your heart to rely on
Send me the warmth of a secret smile
To show me you haven't forgot
For now and forever, that's always and ever
Honey, little things mean a lot
This past week, while shopping at Publix, a grocery store, I picked up a bunch of pretty flowers. They cost $3.00.
What a bargain!
I'd not heard that song, but what a lovely sentiment. And the flowers are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI was beginning to be concerned about you -- it's unusual not to hear from you for a couple of days. I don't want any blogger to feel pressured to feel they "have to" post, but on the other hand, I hope everything's been ok and you've been well.
Lovely flowers. They truly brighten up a room.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Such pretty pink flowers! And I like the vase, too.
ReplyDeleteThe Kitty Kallen tune is a real blast from the past. "Little Things Mean a Lot" used to be one of my mom's favorites back in the '50s.

My goodness Sally, hearing this song almost made me cry. 1954 was the year I graduated from high school. This sure brought back memories. I hadn't even heard the name Kitty Kallen in so long I had forgotten about her. Thank you for posting this. I love your pink flowers too, and a very reasonable price. I like your palm trees in previous post too. Plants really make a difference.

Tho' I've never second-guessed my decision to move to Arizona .... I sure miss the Publix stores!
ReplyDeleteYour $3 bargain reminds me of "impulse" purchases I'd make there, each time my mother was due for a visit. How she appreciated pink!
Have a beautiful weekend!
You are so right Sally, it's the little things that mean so much. How sad that so many folks think if you don't give them some big expensive item, then you don't care about them. I'd lot rather have a smile ,a hug or a I love you, than any large gift you can buy.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers.
Molly
PS forgot to say that was one of my Mom's favorite songs we would go to sleep at night listening to it.
ReplyDeleteI'll just agree with my wife's sentiments on this good post except the song didn't almost make me cry. I do like it though.
ReplyDeleteYour pinks are so pretty..and I loved the song. My goodness, I had not thought about that song in years..Happy Pink Saturday, have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI could probably sing that song without looking at the words, Sally. Shows my age, doesn't it???? ha... I love it--and the words do make so much sense. Little things we do for others really do mean alot--more than we know!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

ReplyDeleteOMGosh - I just love to shop at Publix. They don't have them in the state that I now live in. When I go to Florida or Alabama, to visit family, I go to Publix every chance I get. And, I usually stock up on favorite items (until the car or my suitcases are full)that I can't get anywhere else!
ReplyDeleteHi Sally! What a terrific song ~ I hadn't heard that one before ~ thanks for sharing it! Love your pretty pink flowers!
