With the closing on our new home just ten days away, I feel hard pressed to participate in Marty's Cloche Party. My cloche, along with most of my stuff, is packed away in a warehouse. However, I like to play! What's a gal to do?
I went to the $$ store and for less than five bucks bought a miniature nativity scene, along with some other do dads, shown in this post. Fortunately, I already had my apothecary jar with me in the rental, and Marty said that could count.
I bought the little mirror to use as a platform to place on top of an upside-down glass so that my little guys could be elevated. I took a picture outside of the apothecary jar because I know that the glare of glass is hard to shoot through.
You'll notice there's a stable, the Angel of the Lord, the three wise men, Mary, a shepherd, and even a lamb. I guess that Joseph is out gathering some wood to make a rattle. (It was made in China. You get what you pay for.)
I also bought a cute white star, which is hanging from the top and has bells attached. I stuffed some tissue paper inside to hide the glass. Finally, I attached a glittering silver and white bow.
What'd ya know? I've learned a little something from all you creative Blogland ladies!
Marty from A Stroll Through Life is the hostess of today's party. If you'd like to join in, just click on her link.
Oh Sally--I had a good belly laugh! Joseph--the first absentee father--oh no! I like your explanation about the rattle much better! I do see Joseph made it to your header--it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, is Susan funny (absentee father...) You did good, Sally. To think the Dollar Store would have a nativity set that looks this good (and it does). I applaud you on your ingenuity!! And I am loving all the nativity scenes in the cloche party.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and good luck with the closing. I am SO happy for you both! :-)
xoxo

That is so funny, Sally, about Joseph. I guess he is giving out cigars.....Christine
ReplyDeleteSally, you are so fun! Joseph gathering wood to make a rattle, and the title of your post got me right away! What a sweet nativity (even w/o the daddy!). I'm glad the baby made it into the Chinese-made nativity! I think you did a fabulous job with limited resources. laurie
ReplyDeleteI chuckled aloud when I read about the missing Joseph and how you get what you pay for when buying mdse. made in China!! I think you did GREAT working w/what you had on hand and what you bought at the $ store to create this cute apothecary jar, Sally. Next year when you're all settled in the new house, just think of all the cloche-creating you'll be doing!
ReplyDelete:-) Sue
Sally,
ReplyDeleteI too have a nativity without a Joseph. My mother hand made mine and somewhere along the way I lost or broke Joseph. But since my mom made it I keep displaying it.
I can tell that you made your cloche with love, it's beautiful!
What a sweet little Nativity scene.
ReplyDeleteI guess Joseph figured he wasn't there for the fun so he didn't need to be there for the diaper changing!!
ReplyDeleteCute and creative and thrifty all in one!

I really love your nativity display and of course, your creativity! These comments have been funny too! I love what Christine said about Joseph being absent due to handing out cigars!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this fabulous idea!
How cute, Sally! Cloches must be all the rage! I need to buy one...SOON!
ReplyDeletehow very clever of you Sally :) it is delightful

Hey girl! Love that header pic and look at you getting all creative with that pretty cloche even in the mist of all you getting ready for the big move!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you girl..I can't wait to see all your treasures in your new place...take care my friend and Merry Christmas to you and yours (maybe Joseph fainted by the wayside during delivery and the sheperd boy had to fill in for the family photos!)
that is so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get it together and start decorating.
Oh I just love it. You are the best. Your nativity scene is perfect and you put it in the perfect jar. I love it all. Thanks so much for joining the party. This is such fun and you're the greatest. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteAhhh, this is just precious. You did good, Sally girl.
ReplyDeleteI made myself a rule that I couldn't go buy something to play in the memes unless it was something I needed anyway. It has been a challange to play in some of these fun things, using just what I have. But, it's been fun, too, and that's what its all about.
Your closing date is so so close...I know you must be just jumping thru yourself with excitement...I am so thrilled for you.
hugs, bj
They forgot Joseph?! How funny! BUT you pulled off a wonderful cloche and I just love it!
ReplyDeleteWe have to be creative sometimes and you definitely pulled this one off!
Have a great weekend!
Lou Cinda :)

Sally, I like your spunk! LOL! That's a hoot about why no Joseph, but he's not the only one who missed it. I did, too. :-( I don't know where I've been, but I didn't know about it. Then I had internet issues, and now men at the house doing "things."
ReplyDeleteI hope I'm ready for Pink Saturday, and I hope my computer stops giving me fits. LOL!
XO,
Sheila :-)
I love the idea of putting the nativity under a cloche. Very sweet.
ReplyDeleteSally, you always manage to make us laugh! I think you did a great job with makin' do! Congrats on your new home. How exciting!

Hi Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love those darn $$$Stores. You did so good with your bucks. I love the little mirror and the nativity scene is just precious. The tissure paper really added to the cloche and I love the ribbon flowing across the table. The bells are always a joy. I love it.
Thanks for sharing. Great job in a pinch for time.

ReplyDeleteSue
Good job, Sally! Loved the rattle thought...guess it wouldn't be a truck or building blocks, huh? :)
ReplyDeleteThat is probably why it was being sold at the dollar store. AWOL Joseph. Too funny. I would have never noticed. Your cloche turned out cute. I love that you hung jingle bells from the top.
