It's a good idea to show Blue Monday's icon--the blue jay. Many people place the Blue Monday button at the top of their post so that visitors can easily find their Blue Monday post. For instructions, just click here.
I love to see the many ways blogland show their blues.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I began collecting nativities some years ago. The ones I'm sharing today all contain our celebrated color Blue! This is a music box that I bought after Christmas a couple of years ago. See the Blue blanket?
Here's my Blogger's Cookier Jar. I call it Blogger's Cookier Jar because it has a rooster on the roof! This is the only rooster in my home--that means that I am BARELY a blogger!
Several characters are dressed in Blue, and even the walls of the stable contain Blue!
My mother's favorite color was Blue, and she made this for me in 1972. She's been gone for quite some time, and therefore, this set becomes more precious each year. It has been broken and badly repaired several times (by me). I know that it's no longer perfect, but I cannot bear to throw it out. It was made and given with love.
Here's a whimsical teddy bear nativity scene with plenty of Blue. I've had it for several years.
I did not even know what a cloche was until I began blogging, but now I love to display things in mine. This nativity scene has Blue on Mary and Jesus.
You can get a better view with the cloche removed.
and I wish you
a Blessed Christmas!
What a fun collection! And how wonderful that you have the nativity from your mother - such a lovely keepsake. Of course, they all have special memories attached, I know - but I really love that one with the Teddy Bears!
I love that one inside the glass, we have a little one similar like that..
Beautiful collections Sally, and have happy holidays!
What a strange thing for a rooster to be on the top of the cookie jar. Like it though. How percious is that one your Mom made. I miss my Mom also. This time of year is rough on me. she hasn't been gone too long.
Love your blue manger collection.
Happy Blue Monday.
wow! I so love your collection Sally especially the only rooster in your home haha.
Happy Blue Monday.
Lots of neat Nativities. I like the last one best.
I have NO roosters in my home and consider myself a full-fledged blogger! :-)
Good morning dear Sally, I am linking late because I just finished posting. I was too tired to finish last night. We were at our church until 10:pm helping feed the workers for our live Nativity and also standing out in the cold as an angel. Bill laughed about that one. It was beautiful Sally. Our parking lot turned into Bethlehem and it was the most beautiful nativity you have ever seen. We did this for 3 nights and we had over 400 drive through visitors. Our small church (200) involved almost every member for this production and it was amazing.
And today your post is perfect for my frame of mind. The reason for the season is on your lovely post today. You have some precious nativities. I see you now have an official cloche. Smile. It shows off the nativity so pretty. Beautiful post Sally.
Christmas love, Jeanne
I truly enjoyed all your different nativities. Each one is special in its on way. I have to pick the one your mother made, broken or not, as a keeper. Great workmanship.
I was the same way...about not knowing what a cloche was. Love how you decorated yours though.
Beautiful nativity scenes.
Happy Blue Monday!
these are all just so delightful!!
thanks for sharing!!
warmest hugs..
Loui♥
Just found your sweet site. You have captured the Christmas spirit with this post. Beautiful and blue too!
Thanks for sharing and I'm hooking up with you today to share my blues. Hope I did it right!
Have a beautiful, blue Monday!
Cindy
Your nativities are lovely. What do roosters have to do with blogging? Am I missing something?
And, I've only seen the word 'cloche' on one other site and still don't understand exactly what is means but yours is beautiful.
I know we're all busy right now but when you get a little time could you please explain all this to me? Thanks.
I collect them too. These are lovely. We have the entire white bisque set that Avon put out years ago, a hand carved set from Germany, a light terra cotta set, a brightly painted and rather large set made from tin, a cute little bisque set with figures that remind me of little kids, a carving of the Holy Family in olive wood and my favorite... a more modern set with copper accents in the stars and staffs and the wise men's gifts... it was made by an artist in Mississippi out of a white clay and she used her grandmothers hand tatted lace to make moulds and imprinted the clay with these different lace patterns. It is so simple and elegant and so different.
Thanks for sharing your nativities! I collect them, too. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Sally I did link to you. Really I did. It's on your button at the top of my post !
xo
Merry Christmas, Sally to you and your family! The lovely nativity scenes reminds us of the meaning of Christmas. Peace and joy and goodwill to all!
Happy Holidays to you Sally. So nice to see you. Have a blessed New Year.
You are so smart to collect nativities - I found I had too many Santas, not what the season's about! Blessings to you and your family this Christmas!
You have a beautiful collection of Nativity, Sally, but the most precious of them all is the one your mama made. Thanks for your comforting words! Merry Christmas to you and your family!..Christine
Thanks for reminding me to link. I am so covered up with all kinds of stuff that I just overlooked it.:(
I love all your beautiful nativities. Just lovely.
You have a nice collection going...I have lost the only one I had...which I hand painted...and have not replaced it. (In the moved it vanished) Now I am on the look out for just the right one...
What fun to display them on Christmas! Enjoy!
Thank you for your sweet visit!
Hugs,
Mona
Collecting Nativities is probably one of the sweetest collections! My favorite is the one your mom made ~ I love the soft blue color. Even being repaired, it is so lovely!
Sending very Merry Christmas wishes to you and your family!
Kindly, Lorraine
Sally,
I have so~o~o missed your blog! Thanks for stopping by. Your "Flight Into Egypt" is beautiful! Loved the small threesome under the cloche! Stay close in the New Year! Merry Christmas, dear!
Fondly,
Pat
You have a very nice collection of Nativities! I have one whimsical one that has snow people as the figures, Snowonders by Sarah's Attic, that I hope my grandson will enjoy in a year or two.
Christmas blessings to you and yours!
Oh Sweet Smiling Sally, thanks for stopping by The Hut to wish me a Blessed Christmas, you brought a smile to my heart.
I adore your collection of nativities, they remind me of my mother. She loved setting hers out each year and now my sister and I trade it off each year, alternating with her porcelain tree.
Yes, it is TOO cold for Florida, but I was out this morning taking pictures of the total lunar eclipse for my blog. What we go through to share with others, I do believe I have frostbite, lol.
Merry Christmas Sally, to you and yours, may you be surrounded with the love of family and friends now and in in the New Year.
I love Nativity scenes, they show the True meaning of the Season, the Birth of our Lord and Saviour.
Merry Christmas To you and yours
Molly
All the little nativity scenes are precious, Sally. Thank you for visiting my blog and for the nice greeting. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.
Just so lovely Sally...you have so many unique and meaningful nativity sets. Thank you for sharing them with us! I am off to read more and catch up with you...I have been a bad blogger I know. It has been a rough month, our sweet doggie's death, Mom's illness and more...but I am trying to catch up and determined to find the true joy that is found in this blessed season.
Merry Christmas Sally!
Love,
Sue
Hi Sally, it was just so nice to see that you stopped by even though I have been missing from Blue Monday.
Sally, those are lovely! I'm so glad you shared this with us. I am sitting here reading on Christmas Eve, and it makes me heart swell to think that our Savior was soon to be born into the world two thousand years ago. Isn't it something when you really stop and think of it?
I've been under the weather, and this is the first time I've blogged in eons. But I wanted to be sure and drop by to tell you how much I love you and to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas. More on what has been going on in a post on my blog so I won't reiterate here.
Merry Christmas, my friend!
XO,
