Happy Thanksgiving!

"Saying Grace"

by Norman Rockwell

Saturday Evening Post Cover - November 24, 1951

I have a print of this painting hanging in my dining room.

"Without thinking too much about it in specific terms, I was showing the America I knew and observed to others who might not have noticed. My fundamental purpose is to interpret the typical American. I am a story teller." Norman Rockwell

  1. Just a quick visit to wish you a happy Thanksgiving! Ah, just in time to join hands and say grace and now we can begin! I shall have a nice helping of turkey and stuffing and cranberry sauce. Lots of gravy is just fine. And then a slice of that homemade pumpkin pie!

  4. I love Rockwell! There is so much to see and ponder in his work. Are the couple on the left debating selection or concerned about price? Is the man with the cigar (barely seen lower left table) left handed because of the placement of the coffee cup, or did is his dining partner elsewhere?

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

  6. Sally, just dropping by to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful that you started Blue Monday, and I look forward to this Monday's blueness because in Florida, blue is a good thing! A thing for which I'm thankful.

  8. What a nice Thanksgiving Day greeting. I have this printed on a tile that was made to sit on a table or hang on a wall. I now have it on my desk. I bought it on sale a few years ago while visiting the Phoenix Museum gift shop. I didn't notice until I got it home that the date of the magazine is my birthday. What a pleasant surprise--as was your e-mail that I will received Stephen Baldwin's new book. Have a great day!

  9. Happy Thanksgiving Sally. My hubby just asked me if I saw your post today. I told him no, and he said I should go look at it, so here I am. He was so excited about it. You've made his day more than once with books. Thank you.
