The
Gideons are an impressive group whose mission is "to win the lost for Christ." So far, "Gideons have placed or distributed more than 1.3 billion complete Bibles and New Testaments in more than 180 countries around the world."
Before I began teaching, I worked in a high school library. When a student asked, I noticed that we had no Bibles. A phone call to the Gideons was made and five new Bibles were donated. They were checked out too! If you'd care to make a donation, just click on this
link.

Monica
Very interesting! Happy Sunday to you.
ReplyDeleteI so appreciate the Gideons' work. Once when my unsaved mother was in the hospital, she pulled out the Gideon's Bible in the drawer and started to read it.
ReplyDelete'Morning Sally,
ReplyDeleteMy husband was once a Gideon and I know they are wonderful workers in the Kingdom. Enjoyed the cartoon. Happy Sunday.

I love seeing the cartoos you have. Too funny!! Kathy
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute cartoon. The Gideons have done and are doing a great work. I'm surprised Bibles would be allowed in a school library.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spiritual Sunday.
Charlotte
I think that's so awesome that they give Bibles away :) Happy Sunday Sally ♥
ReplyDeleteThis is funny. Thanks for your words of encouragement to distribute the Scriptures.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story! Do they still have Bibles in hotel rooms? I can't remember the last time I saw a Bible in a hotel room. I don't get out often so that doesn't say much but I was just kinda curious if they still have them in the hotel rooms or not.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless,
Ginger

They are wonderful, Sally. I love to read the Bible in doctor's offices or in the hospital. But I tell you, I wonder if Bibles are even allowed in school libraries now! It is outrageous.
ReplyDeleteSally, it's a wonderful work the Gideons are doing.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby (George) was a Gideon in his younger days.. They really do good work.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Loved the cartoon Sally. I think we should have a lot more bibles in places where they are readily available to everyone.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally
ReplyDeleteThat was a cute joke...oh dear. Like planting seed potatoes and having a "helpful" visitor help pick your potatoes...
The phone call when you worked at the library was a good call.
I've posted about your giveaway Sally.
have a lovely rest of the day
Judi
Offering bibles for those who ask is a great thing. :) Your cartoon is funny.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I create a number of different products like postcards and greeting cards over at zazzle. It's not a lot of income by any stretch but it lets me do something with the billions of pictures I take. ;)
That's a cute cartoon...
ReplyDeleteHope your Sunday has been a good one. See ya tomorrow!!

Gideons do great work, I always look for the Bible to read when we stay at a hotel, and when our kids were in school Gideons passed out the little new testatments every year,
ReplyDeleteYour cartoon is great! I had actually forgotten about the good work that the Gideons do. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sweetie

Funny Cartoon! Yes, the Gideons do a very good job. Donations to their organization is money well spent!
ReplyDeleteSally, I plan to do Blue Monday with you tomorrow if it's about that. My email goes to gmail.com. Just add mrs to the quintessential magpie so it will read the quintessential mrs magpie with no spaces and no period after mrs.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
It's me again, Sally. Ed is almost level 4 kidney disease. I'm thinking the kidney being enlarged may spell something really serious, but I'm trying to not borrow trouble.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words and your prayers.
Hey Sally....Oh girl I have missed visiting you! Love that cartoon and love the work the Gideons do! Hope you had a great weekend my friend and thanks for coming by to check on me!

Isn't it amazing how many Bibles have been placed into the hands of people everywhere thanks to the Gideons. What a mission they have accomplished! Thanks for reminding us. laurie
ReplyDeleteI thought this cartoon was hilarious! My son laughted too. It made me think of the Beatles song, Rocky Ragoo. You know, the one where he "checked into a room, only to find a Gideon's Bible. The Gideon checked out, and left it no doubt, to help with good Rocky's revival!"
