Pink Saturday - Under My Cloche

People! Beverly at How Sweet the Sound hosts Pink Saturday. Pause at her Place to see Plenty of other Pretty Pink items that Precious Pink Participating People are Putting out for Presentation.

I think that I've got it right this time. Blogland is filled with so many Decorating Ladies who put me to shame. It seems to me that you guys can take a chewed piece of gum, wrap it in twine, spray paint it black, stick a couple of feathers in it, place it on a pedestal, surround it with a cloche, and use the finished piece as a fantastic centerpiece at your weekly dinner party where your many guest ooh and aah!

On the other hand, I can work for hours and end up with something that a normal-thinking person might reasonably assume was made by a kindergarten child and left outside overnight in the rain! I've lived for decades, and I never knew what a cloche was! A while back, I bought an item that I thought was a cloche. I called it that and proudly showed pictures, proclaiming myself to finally be an Official Blogger. I was very kindly straightened out. It was not a cloche. It was an apothecary jar. (sigh) I was still not official.

Oh. (*blush*)

Folks, I've made another purchase, and this time I think it's a cloche. Take a look and let me know. I do so want to be an Official Blogger.

I found it at Marshall's. (Thank you, Shelia from Note Songs.) Then, I went to the renowned Dollar Tree Store and found this lovely little teacher, dressed in her Pink sweater and holding an apple. I collect apples, so this is perfect for me! I've placed her on my mother's black plate. This plate is ancient and has no markings. I have no idea where it came from, but Mama always had it. Tell me please, am I an Official Happy Blogging Lady at last?

Check out my LOVE book giveaway. Happy Pink Saturday!

  6. Oh my gosh, Sally. I am sitting here at my desk speaking on the phone with Jeanne. I had to read your post to her because you have cracked me up. I would be on the floor rolling in laughter, but then it would hurt to get up.

You definitely without question have now got yourself a cloche. And, it looks beautiful.

The funny think about a cloche is that I have had one for almost thirty-eight years. We got one a few years after we were married, and we have our wedding cake topper under it. Does that qualify me as being "hip" before my time?

Now, we just need to fix up Dawn. ;-)

  7. Congrats, I think she's got it!
I now feel left out as I am a cloche-free blogger wannabe. : ( must rectify this oversight a.s.a.p.

  10. Sally you have me cracking up here. This is one funny post.
Now, I'm saddened because I'm uncloched (is that a word? well it is now). I want to be in the Cloche club. I want to be an official blogger. I want to go shopping today for a cloche.

    BTW, your cloche is sweet.

    Happy PS

  20. This is just so funny. My centerpieces always look like a 2 yr. old did them and just used messy sticky hands and lots of stirring. Your new "cloche" is perfect. You are official. Hugs, Marty

  21. Well, I don't have a cloche, either, or know the difference between a cloche and an apothecary jar, so I guess I am not official, either.

    That's a cute teacher figurine.

  22. Hi Sally, ok, I am laughing out loud at your post. I didn't even have to read it because Beverly called and read it to me. She called because we are friends forever and I was moaning and yes, whining, about my pain and she read me your post to cheer me up. Honestly, you already are a very official blogger in my book girl. Now I will agree that is a cloche, I THINK. kidding. I always thought it was a 'dome.' Where did the word 'cloche' come from???

Love your cloche, teacher and apple, not to leave out the lovely
    plate.

Thanks for the great uplift in my spirit today.

    Hugs...Jeanne

  26. Sally I never knew what a cloche was either. Well I know in French it means "BELL" like the ones they ring in church. I had no idea where to find on. Actually I just found a little baby one I will show you on Monday. This one will make you chuckle for sure.
Welcome to the blogger "Cloche" club...

  27. Hi Sally,
I do think lots of the bloggers are calling it a cloche! Sounds better than dome doens't it.

    Jeanne's comment had me laughing!

Either way-it's cute...and I don't have one. Need to try to find one!

    ReplyDelete
  28. You have made me laugh out loud! Too funny! I don't have a cloche yet, so I guess I'm not official. They are pricy little things, and I am looking for a bargain one, of course. Yours is so cute with the little teacher under it. Thanks for the laughs! laurie

  30. I laughed so hard at what you wrote! I relate!

I have a confession...I don't own a cloche yet! I saw one this summer at K-Mart during their closing sale, and it was only $12 and had a beautiful base, but it was one of those tight-money weeks so I couldn't get it and when I went back it was gone. Oh well.

    Your's looks great though!

  31. Cloche, smoche - who cares what you call it, as long as YOU like it! I have two friendes (sisters) who can take an old mayonaise jar, some dead leaves, and a can of shoe polish and make something that would be on the cover of Home and Garden magazine! With friends like them...my stuff looks evern worse;(

  32. Well I don't have one! I want one! Gotta have one!! Gonna get one!!! hehe It is so cute to display in. Kathy

  33. You have always been "official" on my blog roll. I don't even know the difference between a cloche or a bell jar or a big glass bowl turned upside down. But it sure does look sweet and the black plate is intriguing.

    Happy Saturday to you...

  45. Blogging can be educational. I didn't know what a cloche was either. I didn't even know what LOL meant. I'm learning.
The little teacher "under glass" is darling.
As for being an official blogging lady, I think you've accomplished in a short time what others have not done in a few years of blogging. Congratulations Happy blogging Lady.

  56. Oh that is TOO funny about the jar back then and the yes it is a cloche. I can't seem to find one of the buggers at all! So I found a little something something at the Goodwill today and picked up another little something at the big W box store and will be 'crafting' myself a cloche this week. As soon as I can find that darn glue! Wish I had a Marshall's in town!!!

  57. I've always thought of you as a most impressive blogger...and a really sweet one. I too, wouldn't know a cloche if it sat down beside me, but your arrangement is really, really pretty. Happy belated Pink Saturday and have a lovely week.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I’m still stopping in on my Pink Saturday list. Oh my, I don't know about a cloche. I'm thinking like a real hat. Must go wiki this. Anyway, pretty arrangement.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I have such issues with the word cloche. When I first got online back in the 1800's, I knew a guy and let's just say he pretended to be several other people online and one was a woman whose screen name was Cloche. Yes, he had issues. Anyway, I've always thought it was a French word for hat but Googling it tells me it's a bell or glass covering so looks like you have got yourself a cloche. :)
