"Why?" the granddaughter asked.
"Because it's been on the ground. You don't know where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs," replied Grandma.
At this point, the little girl looked at her grandmother with total admiration and asked, "Grandma, how do you know all this stuff? You are so smart."
Grandma, thinking quickly, answered, "All Grandmas know this stuff. It's on the Grandma Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Grandma."
We walked along in silence for two or three minutes, while the small one pondered this new information. "Oh...I get it!" she beamed, "So if you don't pass the test, you have to be the Grandpa."
"Exactly!"
I went to the movies Sunday afternoon with my granddaughter, Brittany to see Confessions of A Shopaholic. Brittany and I both enjoyed this chick flick and give it a thumbs up.
It's the story of Rebecca Bloomwood, a shopaholic, living in New York and desperate to work for a fashion magazine.
She's deeply in debt and the moral is that things are not as satisfying as people. In our materialistic society, with the instant gratification mentality, it's worth your time to see it with all of your teenagers.
It's not preachy, but rather a light-hearted look at credit cards usage. There were laugh-out-loud moments, and of course, a happy ending. It's rated PG.
Oh I want to see that movie! I'm glad you said it was good...now I want to see it worse :) The funny was too cute...happy Tuesday Sally ♥

Sally, that joke is classic! LOL! And I love having the movie review. BTW, I got the book, and I can't wait to read it. I'm going to do a post about it, but I want to do something creative... so it might take a few days to percolate.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Oh, and THANK YOU! I'm half asleep. I fell asleep blogging last night. That's pretty sad, isn't it? LOL!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Cute joke, Sally girl...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the movie..I think several of the grands and I are going to see this one. The last one we all went to see was TWLIGHT and they all loved it. Me? well...I knew going into it that it was a vampire movie so looked at it thru young eyes and actually enjoyed it, too.
Have a really good day...I am finishing up some painting, it' rainy here this morning and I am lovin' it....
I loved the little grandma joke! It made me smile!!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember the last time I went to the movies. It's been years.

Great joke, Sally! That movie is on my "must see" list!
ReplyDeleteGM Sally, Thanks for the movie review. My GF and I have been wanting to see this movie but I wasn't too sure if it would be a waste of money since the critics didn't like it. I read the books and loved them. Going to call my friend and schedule a girl's night out for dinner and this movie.
ReplyDeletep.s. I hope I pass the test, I'd hate to have to be the grandpa.
GM Sally thanks for the information about the movie..loved the joke and so true girl!! hope you have a great day...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteHi Sally, love the cute story today. Your posts are always fun. I am reading Confessions of a Shopaholic right now. I didn't know it was a movie. Where have I been? Actually nowhere lately. Smile. My big outings are going to therapy. I am getting better with my knee bending... slowly.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at what you said about greenery. So true.
Hugs...Jeanne
I'm a male, but not a grandpa--so I'm laughing! Thanks for the movie review. Charlotte and I know a lot about shopping. We have shopped all over the world.

Sally,
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the movie! I have read most of the the "Confessions" books~they are just so funny and a great escape!
Sally, I wanted to mention something to you that maybe some of our blogger friends have noticed. I have been visiting Blue Monday posts since yesterday. It saddens me to see that some bloggers receive as few as 10 comments on their posts. One sweet lady received 2 comments. Out of 68 participants, she received 2 comments!!
I'm a true believer that if you want to talk, you need to listen. Perhaps there should be a bit more "urging" for participants to visit their fellow Blue Monday bloggers. What do you think?
xoxo
Janie
LOL I loved the joke! I haven't seen the movie but I like anything light with a happy ending. That means I rarely go to the show with the hubby :>) I hope you are having a lovely day ♥
ReplyDeleteCute joke! I wanted to see that movie - it looks like a good one - thanks for the review. It sounds like you had a fun day with your Granddaughter. ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute Grandma story!! But, at our house, the grandkids think it is PaPa that is the smart one. Grammy just hangs out in the kitchen or at the sewing machine all of the time. Sally
ReplyDeletei just copied the grandma test and sent it to my dad!!! LOL

Cute joke and sounds like a good movie to see these days, thanks, Sally.
ReplyDeleteMy DIL is wanting to see this movie. Having the baby has put a hold on us going. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally, For some reason, I can't reach anyone with an AOL email from their blog spot. I can email to an AOL email address directly from my email with the email address. So, to make a long story long, This is the only way I can contact you thus far. You get a lot of comments, so I'm not expecting you to find this anytime soon.....anyhoo, I'm VERY technically challenged and can't for the life of me figure out how to get the blue Monday blue bird on my blog. I've tried and tried but, to no avail. I'm hoping you or some kind soul who reads this will take pitty on me and point me in the right direction. Thanks, Mary :O) P.S. Cute Grandma story!
ReplyDeleteHello.. this is my first visit to your blog.. good one :)

Sounds like a cute movie!
ReplyDeleteIf you have to be grandpa when you don't pass the test, oh what, oh dear, does that really say about men. ;) Funny little story.
