Blue Monday - Bye, Bye Blue

It's Blue Monday! To participate:

1. Post about something blue on your blog. It can be pretty, ugly, funny, old, or new as long as it's blue. Leave a link to this blog on your post.

2. Place the Blue Monday button on the top of your post so that people can easily spot it. Place another
Blue Monday button on the sidebar of your blog.

3. Return here and link in with Mr. Linky by leaving your name and the
Permalink to your post. To create a Permalink, click on your Blue Monday post title and copy all the stuff in the http window. It is a longer address so that people can find your post even later in the week--whenever they get a chance to visit. For those who just can't wait, Mr. Linky will be up after midnight!

4. Visit other Blue participants by clicking on their links. Make someone's day; leave a comment.
I appreciate those who leave a comment for me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once upon a time, my office had blue wallpaper with a blue border that coordinated with the valence which has blue bands. Even the blinds are blue. I was a happy camper, but time and little grandchildren made for some rough places on this wallpaper. It was time for it to go!
We hired three men to strip off the wallpaper and paint the room a neutral tan. However, you know that I'm really not saying good-bye to all my blue. Notice the many touches of blue around: picture, books, basket.
I don't know why flashes make for funny colors, but this shot above is not the true color.
This final shot is the true color. It's Benjamin Moore AC-31 hot spring stones. I like it, but I already miss my gorgeous blue wallpaper.
  1. Sally, your room looks great and I still see lots of blue. Isn't taking wallpaper down the worst? Yikes.
    Happy Blue Monday.
  2. I like that new color a lot, Sally. It's warm and neutral, but doesn't make the room seem smaller.
  3. For some reason, I couldn't view your after picture, I think it's my computer because that happens to me sometimes on others websites as well.
    After many years of colored walls, I finally went tan and I really like it because, I can accessorize many different ways and I find the wall color calming which I didn't expect. :O)
  4. Love the new color of your walls! It is a nice compliment to your blue shade!
  8. I really do like the paint color! The nice thing about a blank canvas like that though is that you can add so many blue accessories!
  9. Oh, I so hate stripping wallpaper, I'd have to hire it done now too. I am going to be repainting my bath next week after my Branson trip.
    I like the new color you picked. It looks so nice with blue asserories.
  11. Grin, I hope you don't mind me saying, that I like the walls better without the flowers :D
    But I love your blue blinds :)!
    (And I just read in your profile about Christian fiction. I didn't know that there was such a thing. One never stops learning new things :) )
    Happy blue Monday!
  25. Hi Sally,
    I am new here.
    Can't wait to explore your pretty blog.
    Barb (Bella Vista) was the inspiration for me to try a Blue Monday post.
    Thanks for the opportunity.
  26. Good morning Sally, I smiled when you sent the Email back. I am part German too. With English, Irish and Am. Indian thrown in the mix. LOL.
    Your room looks very nice and I can only imagine three men in that room removing wallpaper. I did like your wallpaper too. The window treatment looks very nice. The paint color doesn't show up in the photo very much. I have noticed that the paint colors in my home never look the same in a photo. It looks very efficient in there. Hang some prints or photos on each side of the window. BIG smile Ever the decorator, that's me. Nice job Sally.
    Hugs...Jeanne
  27. I like your new room, Sally. I also know how it is to miss the other color and border. I love borders and I miss the one I took off my bedroom walls. I'll bet your office is brighter and lighter now, tho...
  28. That was some pretty wallpaper, but there comes a time when they have to be removed. I like your change.
    I laughed at Jeanne. She is ever the decorator.
    The painted walls look great, and you will get used to the change soon.
  46. Hi Sally!
    It's hard to part with wallpaper because it is so much work to put up and take down. I really do love what you had before though, really my taste. But you have added some nice blue touches and I really like the window treatments.
    Happy Blue Monday! By the way, when I saw the title of your post I thought you weren't going to host Blue Monday anymore! :-(
