~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Johnny and I celebrated our 51st anniversary this past July 7th. Of course last year was the BIG FIVE-O, and I blogged about it here and here.
Some anniversaries we exchange gifts with each other and some we do not. This year because we are building our new home, we decided not to buy specific gifts; however, when we were out and about on our special day, we stumbled upon the perfect gift for the both of us! Our favorite color is blue. This 5½ inch, cobalt blue pitcher caught Johnny's eye first. Once I glommed upon it, there was no doubt that it was coming home with us!
You can see by the "made in China" sticker on the bottom that this is quite a costly piece. (Ahem!)
We both prefer to think that it reflects the beautiful, ongoing love we've shared for over half a century.
Thank you for allowing me to show it today.
  8. Cobalt blue glass takes me back to my childhood. My mother wore Guerlain's "Evening in Paris" parfum; it came in the most beautiful, cobalt bottle. You've made me smile, Sally :-))
  31. Sally, I think I missed your 51st anniversary post. July was such a lost month for blogging. Wow, 51 years. Congratulations to both of you. The little blue pitcher is really pretty. The deep cobalt blue is striking. It doesn't matter who made it. What matters is that you both love it and bought it together. A memory is made.
    Hugs xoxo, Jeanne
  32. Congrats on the anniversary and what a beautiful piece to symbolize and remember the wonderful years together. I will be celebrating 34 years on Aug 22.
  33. I love cobalt glass too. I have a vase and a few other pieces in cobalt. I do think, though, that it can be too much of a good thing - for instance, I would not have an entire set of place settings in cobalt. I think cobalt does a terrific job as an accent piece, and I love mixing it with white ceramics.
