You may remember that we are renting a condominium while our new house is being built. To make the place a bit more like home, I bought a pot of blooms and a palm tree. (This is Florida, and I WILL have my palm!)
This porch faces North, so after a few months, my plant is yucky, and the palm tree is beginning to whimper. Tootsie encouraged me to show all, so here it is.
Upon closer inspection, you can see the little tree needs to be trimmed. Can you hear the sad whimpering? I can.
Look at the leaves. Besides a lack of sun, did we fertilize too much? Too little? I'm guessing that the plant might have had a time-release fertilizer when we bought it, so it didn't need our feeding. I'm going to let it alone for a time. Perhaps when we move into our new place, it'll snap back into its former beauty. Let's hope.
I hope to see you back for Blue Monday!
And it is fall (hard to believe with these temperatures!) with shorter days and less sunshine, the plants will revive in the spring. They overall look healthy. I think you are doing fine with just trimming off some of the yellow.
ReplyDeleteI'm not good with plants, I always do something wrong! To me they don't look too bad. Have a good weekend.

I am so bad with plants...I have a very brown thumb....those plants look great to me!
ReplyDeleteI echo all your previous comments I am not very good with plants and my heart sinks when someone gives me because I know the agony I will go through trying to look after it!!! However, I am very proud of myself, at the moment, I have had 5 different plants given to me in the 2 months and they are all, ssshhhh so far, looking healthy. Take care Sally lots of love Judith
ReplyDeleteThey don't look THAT bad! I love it when I am at Home De*pot and someone brings in a dead twig and get their money back because it died. What a scam that is.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a green thumb at all, so they look great to me. I know you will find just the right place when your house is done. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI am doing better with plants but I still wouldn't say I have a green thumb. Yours look beautiful to me.♥
ReplyDeletePlants will survive....more importantly, your home is coming along quite nicely!!
ReplyDeleteThey look good to me! Lovely blooms! Even your pots are gorgeous! Thank you for the visit. Luckily, I have only experienced the edge of a Hurricane...plenty for me! A few broken windows, kiddie pools in the trees, rain comming in thru the key hole.....we were in military housing so we were lucky, they cleaned it all up and did repairs too. Scary!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
*hugs*deb
Oh poor poor Sallyness! Poor little plants! I couldn't tell you squat about what to do. They just need to go to your new home, I'm sure that will do the trick!
ReplyDeleteDo you think you'll have little trick or treater? Better go buy your candy! We have lots of kids come by and we don't have our candy yet.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Sally, it has been a while and I am sorry. Your plants look great and I see you have walls, that is wonderful. I know you are anxious.
ReplyDeleteWill try to be here Monday. Happy Halloween.
Barbara
I am no good with plants. My roses survive in spite of me.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous plants, Sally! I have about 25 of them in our house!

ReplyDeleteHi Sally, I have 2 big palms just like that in pots on the deck and they are thriving very well, have not really done much care except water them. I do not know where I will put them when it gets cold cause I don't think they are cold tolerant. Your anthurium is looking a lot better than mine though..Christine
ReplyDeletePretty plants, Sally ~
ReplyDeleteThey look pretty good to me, Sally...BUT---maybe they too are just WAITING to move into the new home!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween.
Hugs,
Betsy
Your plants are pretty Sally. You should see mine. When ever I bring a new plant home my hubby just shakes his head because he knows that plant doesn't have a chance.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing your plants. I never knew that the lovely plant is called Anthurium - I love that, now I can look it up with the name :).
Thanks - good luck with your plants.
Evelyn
Your plants look just fine Sally.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween !

I think they look good. I, myself, am learning about plants and winter, so I don't have a lot (okay, any) advice. I just think yours are pretty and maybe you're being too hard on yourself (and them!)...
ReplyDeleteI think they're still green and that's always a plus...and even blooms on one...guess they need more of your "smiles"...great progress on the house...
ReplyDeleteSo pretty to spite the imperfections you pointed out. I wouldn't have seen them otherwise.
