We Have Walls!

Last Wednesday evening, we snapped these pictures of our walls getting taped. After the dry wall is up, walls are taped and plastered with drywall mud. The following day, the walls are sanded, and then another layer of plaster is applied. When that dries, the walls are given a final light sanding. Soon, I will be able to measure for window treatments.

This is standing in the dining room, looking toward the front door.

Thursday, we were surprised (and thrilled!) to discover that they were applying stucco to the outside of the house. You'll remember that block walls are under that stucco. They give it two coats: a scratch coat and a finish coat. Next the house will be painted. This is the front of the home, looking down the block.

For the first time, here is a shot of the back of the house. I took it with the zoom lens from across the pond. Although not all are seen in these pictures, we counted seven men working. That's a good sized crew. We drove back a little after 7 PM, and they were still at it!

This is NOT the color of the house, as it's not yet painted.

Later in the week, we got this shot of the walls being sanded.

Yesterday, we discovered that the walls and ceilings were completed. According to the builder's prediction, it should be five more weeks until we close.

Please com back for Blue Monday!

  2. How impressive! I am so glad you are not getting all of the rain we are. That would be detrimental to progress.

  5. Wow, it's really getting there, isn't it? Interesting to see that they're working on the inside and outside at the same time. I always thought they did one and then the other. It's neat that you've been able to watch the house go up from the beginning, and get all these great photos!
