This is the finished landscape. The tree in the forefront is a Live Oak. I'm still going to get my palm tree in there somewhere, even if I have to take one out!
Here's a shot showing the backyard. Mind you, our yard is NOT this big. This is taken from across the pond. You can see our grass, plants, and tiny tree.

It's coming along beautifully. you must be almost ready to move in. I don't know about the elm trees. Hopefully, your elm will be just right. Waiting to see that palm!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteLooking good!!! I think you might be in there in time for Christmas decorations after all!
ReplyDeleteIs the live oak plante between the sidewalk and the curb? If so, you're going to be in for a surprise when its roots rip up that sidewalk in about 30 years!
ReplyDelete;-)
Oh Sally, the yard is looking great. I love it when the landscaping goes it, because then it looks like a home to me. Everything has turned out beautifully, I know you and your husband must be so pleased.
ReplyDeleteWOW...it doesn't look like it will be long before you are in your new home.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, andrea
Wow, Sally! It's really coming along. The landscaping is wonderful! I'm so excited for you!

ReplyDeleteWow I like your yard makeover, so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWe had Elm Trees galore in our yard/acreage in Colorado---they were HUGE!!
ReplyDeleteMy Outdoor Wednesday is the continuation from last week's venture...today, what we bought.
The Peddler Show
Happy Wednesday wishes to you.
OOO, Sally...this is going to be so beautiful in a little while. Those trees and plants will start growing and get big before you know it. And, I, too, would throw a wall-eyed fit for a palm tree!! (do you even KNOW what a wall-eyed fit IS??) *giggling
ReplyDeleteLove your OutDoor Wed. post.

Very pretty! How exciting moving into a new home. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSoon! Very soon! It is really starting to come together. I can't wait for pictures of you in the house. Have a great Outdoor Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI have an elm tree in the back yard its been there since our house was built 57 years ago.Its huge, the overhang covers almost the whole back yard.I love this tree I love the shade. Its only gotten this big in the last 10 years.
ReplyDeleteNo problem with roots in the pipes etc..
You will love this tree too!
Diane
It was extremely interesting for me to read the article. Thank you for it. I like such topics and everything that is connected to them. I would like to read a bit more on that blog soon.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Lovely yard. It's almost time!
ReplyDeletecindy
Looks like they're putting in fairly good sized trees. Many places put in trees that are so small they either die or take years to fill in. Do you have plans for more plantings in the back yard when you move in?
ReplyDeleteSally, I read what Jane said about the oak, and that's true... their roots tend to spread out and push up sidewalks. But it does take quite a while to do that. Not sure about elms, but there may be a smaller variety. I have seen some not that tall in Florida, but maybe it's because they aren't very old. I can ask my tree lady the next time I see her. You might want to call a landscaping company and ask, though, just in case.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Hi Sally!
ReplyDeleteOh, your house is looking great! What difference the landscaping makes!
Have a great Day!
Sally, it was fun seeing your house and its pretty landscaping. I especially liked the 2nd photo with the sun coming through the windows. It looks like your house is all aglow, just waiting for you to move in.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldn't worry about the oak tree uprooting the sidewalk. Some of the prettiest neighborhoods in Natchez have sidewalks with huge old oak roots winding in and amongst them, and they just add character.
When is "Moving In Day?"
It won't be long now, Sally... I know you are getting excited. I would keep the Elm if it were me--but I LOVE BIG trees...
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy
BEAUTIFUL, Sally! I bet your ready to move in, aren't you?
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful yard! i so love trees even when the leaves need raked!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a week makes. Everything really looks nice and the yard is so pretty. What a wonderful Christmas gift this will be for the whole family.
ReplyDeleteHi Dear Sally! Oh, your landscape is looking so beautiful! Your new home is so beautiful! Are you excited yet! I'm so excited for you.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
This is really coming along! The landscaping looks beautiful. Live Oaks are one of my favorite trees, they have so much character when they mature. I bet you are so excited! Happy Outdoor Wednesday. Kathy
ReplyDeleteWho says dreams do not come true. It is just beautiful, Sally. I knew it would be. The landscaping will really set it off.
ReplyDeleteHave one fantastically blessed day enjoying your dreams!!!
I love it all--the house and the landscaping.
ReplyDeleteSally the landscaping is beautiful! Everything will be done when you move in. How neat is that! Your house is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteSally do you still like your mac? Have you found it to be limiting in any way. I'm still looking and I know you have had yours a while. What made you go to mac or did you have one before. Thanks
I love the landscaping! But I agree about the palm tree. How else will you know you're in Florida?
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that you didn't get to choose your plantings. In Florida I would think nice big shade trees would be a plus, especially on the southern exposure. I have a Dawn Redwood in my front yard. It is the largest tree in the whole development and is still growing every year. I hope it isn't like those California redwoods that you drive cars through. lol
ReplyDeleteYour house and the landscape are so pretty. How exciting to be moving into a brand new home soon!
ReplyDeleteOh Sally! How exciting! It looks like a home now! Won't be long! laurie
ReplyDeleteWow Sally; It is really looking so beautiful.. don't know anything about trees. so no help at all... sorry.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Hugs;
Alaura
This is beautiful landscaping....and Sally, I would think in Florida, a big ole tree would be just what you needed for shade...hope it works to be what you like as far as size goes.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost all done! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI had a London elm in my backyard for many years but a storm damaged it and we had to cut it down for safety sake. Honestly I don't like trees too close to a home for that reason, especially if your area is in a hurricane area.
I belive Oak trees grow slowly so I don't think that will cause any problems, and they are so beautiful.
I hope my rodeo blog did not offend. I was worried about the animals (and the cowboys!)safety but all seemed to be quite well afterwards. In fact the horses and cattle were relaxing and eating hay afterward ..they were all in visable pens as we left.
Hi Sally
ReplyDeleteWow, things are coming along nicely. I don't know anything about a Elm Tree. We have a Ash Tree in our front yard that is 200 years old. Just be glad its not a Ash Tree!!
~Ann
very lovely and classy looking. elms in missouri nearly all died out many years ago :( they're wonderful trees.
ReplyDeleteVery, very wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great!
Becky K.
It's looking nice Sally...missed you :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sally, I am finally getting to visit my blogging friends from yesterday. I am leaving for the weekend to visit a longtime friend. I am going to Charlotte, NC about 3 1/2 hours away. Her son is very ill with H1N1 and I am going to give her some moral support. I hope he will be ok. I have known him sines he was born over 50 years ago. I had a million things to do before I leave.
ReplyDeleteYour new home is looking gorgeous. I do not know enough about trees to help you out. Oak trees to get very large, but it takes a long time. I am so impressed with the fast pace in which your home has been built. You are going to love living there Sally. I love watching the progress of your new home. Next will be the inside. Work and fun!!!
Hugs, Jeanne
Your new house is beautiful. Love the landscaping too. I'm sure you will find a place for a palm tree. Probably several could be put in the back yard.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte
Almost done, it is really all coming together quite nicely! I know what you mean about having a palm tree. I love them!
ReplyDelete~ Tracy
Big progress in your house now Ms. Sally and your place is so clean, and peaceful.
