~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is Memorial Day in the USA. We remember those who have given their lives in service. We fly our flag and take extra time to be thankful that we live in a free country. The colors of our flag are red, white, and Blue.
Copied from the internet: Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer.
Did you fly your flag?
Happy Blue Monday!
  4. Hi Sally!
    In this country, the flags are hoisted on adoption of the federal government at various holidays. While the German national flag is hoisted about January 27, the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of National Socialism and on the 2nd Sunday at half-mast in front of the 1st Advent, the Memorial Day, (he recalls the war dead and victims of the tyranny of all nations) , there are also some general flagging days, such as the Labour Day on 1 May, the Europe Day on May 9, the day of German Unity on October 3, the day of the elections to the German Bundestag or the day of the election for European Parliament. Then we have the national day of remembrance of the German people in June.
    Our flag is black-red-gold.
    Greetings
    Anne
  12. Hi Sally, Me too. We have no plans for today except to get ready to go to Fl. for our grandson's graduations on Thursday. It would be so nice for us to visit again.
    One of our grandsons lives in Kissimmee and one in Jax and they graduate a week apart. That means we will be in Fl 10 days. A few days with each daughter. There will be a party for both of them as well. Busy but wonderful that we can attend both of them.
    Your post is a nice tribute to our fallen soldiers who fought for our freedom. I wish we could do more. Especially the ones who have lost limbs etc. and come home to try and live a normal life. They have fallen too. Sigh.
    Happy Memorial Day my dear friend.
    Love, Jeanne
