I hope that everyone had a Blessed Thanksgiving; we sure did. We spent the day with our daughter and her family.

Quite a while ago, I won a print from Carol at At My Painting Room, her Etsy shop. The title is Red Hollyhocks, and she even signed it! I love the bright colors of the red against the blue background.

I promised to frame it and blog about it once it was hung.

I went to Michael's and selected a frame. It was $24.99 and on sale for 40% off. I felt that the expense was worthwhile since the print is so lovely. Well, it's finally hanging just around the corner from my kitchen and family room where it can be easily seen each day.

I think it looks really special.

I'll make a confession. When I was inserting the print into the frame, the glass snapped! (I've TOLD you that I was not handy!) Well, I just went ahead and framed it anyway without the glass because thoughtful Carol had it wrapped in a plastic. You might be able to detect the little wrinkle when you click on the picture to enlarge it, but I think it works.

Blue Monday - Blue Mural

On a beautiful day with lovely blue skies, we took a drive. Look at the unique store that I discovered! It has an interesting, large mural of a beach scene painted along the front, with some beautiful blue water. I stopped the car to take some pictures for Blue Monday..

The name of the store is "Clothing for the Free Spirit." What kind of clothing might that be?

Hm, as I looked more closely, it seems the models sittting on the beach answer that question. I suppose the store sells only hats.
BTW, there's a nudist colony right next door! You think there's a connection?

Blue Monday - Review Morning Glory

Look at these blue curlers! Diane Keaton actually appears like this in a scene from her newest film, Morning Glory. Most stars wouldn't have the nerve, but she remains so lovely.

Here she is with her hair combed out in another scene with Harrison Ford. Note his blue tie, the blue background, the blue chair.

Harrison Ford is shown here in his blue jeans. Why, oh why are men so lucky to look good at any age in any get-up? (sigh) We don't see them with curlers in their hair!

More blue is worn by Rachel McAdams and Patrick Wilson in another scene.

Here's another scene including Jeff Goldblum, with a pretty, striped blue shirt.

It's a good Chick Flick with some laughs. I saw it this past Thursday with my granddaughter, Lauren.

Blue Monday - Pilgrim Figurines

I bought these Thanksgiving pilgrim figurines several years ago, and I love bringing them out to display during November. This year, I've placed them on the entry table, just inside my front door.

The first thing I noticed (and loved) about them was the blue color.

I love the details. The lady is carrying a basket of fruit, and she has vegetables at her feet. The gentleman has a turkey in front of his feet.

Their hands are folded in prayer to remind us to be thankful.

Blue Monday - Blue Musical Review

Johnny and I went to a Best of Broadway Musical this past week. We saw 9 to 5, the Musical, and laughed our heads off. We heard good music, and saw plenty of blue, our favorite color. Dolly Parton wrote both the lyrics and the music, so you know we were tapping our feet.

Here's an official description:

Set in 1979, the story of three unlikely acquaintances try to take control of their company and learn there's nothing they can't do.

"9 to 5: The Musical" features some well-known Broadway names. Diana DeGarmo, a third-season "American Idol" finalist, plays the role of Dorelee, a part made famous in the film by Dolly Parton. Sharing the stage are: three-time Tony Award nominee Dee Hoty as Violet, Broadway veteran Mamie Parris as Judy and Joseph Mahowald as Franklin Hart Jr.

Dorelee is supposed to be from Texas, so Diana DeGarmo used a high-pitched, thick accent. I lived in Texas for one year, and I've never heard anyone speak with such an accent! This detracted as it was a bit difficult to understand the words when she spoke quickly. Even if she meant to sound like Dolly, a Tennessee native, the accent was too phony for me. All other actors were as clear as bells. In any case, we had a good night. Any time there's laughter, I like it. Therefore, I'd recommend it.
