~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Look at this beautiful
blue sky over Mount Rushmore, where four Presidents are memorialized. I copied this from the internet, and I seriously doubt that the sky is so intense.
Presidents Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February.
At the beginning, the holiday was implemented to honor George Washington. It was celebrated on February 22, which actually is Washington's birthday. Later on, many states connected it to Lincoln's birthday (February 12) even though Lincoln's birthday was never a federal holiday.
Nowadays President's Day is said to commemorate all US Presidents.
☆ ☆ ☆I found a
blue example of a sign businesses can buy and display. All federal buildings are closed.
However, many sales are going on.
Sally, I enjoyed your post. My brother, George, named for an uncle, not the President, was also born on February 22, so this is a special date for me. No blue in my post today, only cherries. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHope to see you. ~ Sarah
Happy Blue Monday and Happy President's Day, dear Sally.
ReplyDeleteMount Rushmore is an amazing site, and those blue skies are always welcome.
I wish I was off of work today.
Oh Sally, I'm not going out shopping today! We had like 2 feet of snow last night..
ReplyDeleteI'm blue because now I have to shovel the snow!
Morning girl...Happy Blue Monday to you! When Oldest Burly took a rode trip to Montana he stopped in several states along the way and would call me and tell me what he was seeing...he called one morning and said "Mom!!! I am standing in front of the mountain that has the presidents' faces on it!" Of course that didn't excite him as much as the day he called standing on the open range looking at a herd of BUFFALO!!! Ahhhh you gotta love a Burly Man!!! lol lol Have a great day girl! Picket
ReplyDeleteHi Sally, This is the first time I'm joining this party and while I was not prepared for a fresh blue, I dug into the blue cabinet and pulled out the Neti Pot post because it's blue! Next week, I'll post a brand new blue! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sally, your comment on PS sure made me smile. I am feeling great, but looking good is a different story. It takes a while.
ReplyDeleteLove your president post today. Your post reminded me to include President's day. Thank you so much for your prayers my dear friend. I needed them,
ReplyDeleteHi Sally and the rest of the party!
This is the first time that I am participating and hope that my pose will be enjoyable to all.
(Somehow, when I clicked "enter" the first time, it didn't disappear. Clicked again, and it put me twice!(#52, #53)Still can't figure this techno-stuff out!)
Nice President's Day tribute.
ReplyDeleteHi Sallie,
ReplyDeleteWell, Happy President's Day too! No, I'm not going shopping. I may be interviewed by the local paper today about my blog though. We'll see.
Have a wonderful Blue Monday, and thank you for hostessing this fun event for us each week.
Kathy
Morning Sally. Loved your blues today but because our country is "Blue" right now Don & I will be hanging onto the few bucks we have left...lol...no shopping for us.
ReplyDeleteyes lovely sky indeed! thanks for the comment dear, btw the headache doesn't stay it is just when the toothbrush is in your mouth!haha..cheers!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot for Presidents' Day! Those are four presidents I don't mind commemorating - not so sure about some of the others! I sort of liked it back when George and Abe had their own individual special days.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blue Monday and have a wonderful week.
I kind of liked it better when we celebrated Lincoln's and Washington;s birthdays, but I guess we should honor all the presidents for their service. It's not a job I would want! Although I don't know how having sales does honors them.:-) I'd shop if there was something I needed that was a good price, but I don't know of anything on a special sale today that I want.
ReplyDeleteHoping to visit Mt. Rushmore, later this year. Happy President's Day and Happy Blue Monday!
ReplyDeleteI just popped in to say hello. I love the photos you selected to share with us today. I hope all is well. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteThis holiday, to me, is just another day without mail. I will not be shopping, but working in my yard while the winter is nicer. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Happy President's Day, Sally! Abby was supposed to have the day off from school, but because of all the snow we got in early January, they're using it to make up for days lost. She's so bummed!
ReplyDeleteI loved visiting Mount Rushmore, it was really a bright intense blue sky... I usually relax on Presidents day and try to avoid the sales..lol..always spend too much and buy things I don't need.
Did I miss this week? Not that I am that consistent, lol. All depends on what assignments I have and if I have the brains to be creative, so remember it is not about me not liking your meme okay?
