One of my favorite Christmas traditions is when the grandchildren decorate our tree. It all began about 24 years ago when I allowed the first born grandchild to "softly" touch the ornaments. Each year after that, she "helped" us place some of the ornaments on the tree. As the years passed, other grandchildren came to "help." We have Christmas music playing, and I serve warm apple cider and Christmas cookies.
Sure, some ornaments get broken, but I never scolded as none were as valuable as the child who had let it slip.
Two of our grandchildren, Brittany and Jenna, came over this past week to do our tree; each brought her fiance/husband. I had way too much fun to remember to take pictures, but later, I took these shots of our few Blue ornaments.
Our tree is a hodge-podge of ornaments. I call our tree a "memory tree" because each ornament has a story connected to it.
Happy Blue Monday!

Good morning Sally!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful it is the tree ornaments. I like the blue star absolutely!
The year before that, I had always blue Christmas decorations. This year I was with red and silver decorations! I wish you a great week!
Greetings
Anne
Pretty tree! Ours is definitely a "memory tree," with some ornaments (the most endearing ones) made by the kids 30 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI love all your decorations Sally. Yes my tree is a memory tree too. Happy blue Monday
ReplyDeleteHi Sally - you have some lovely decorations there - tried to add http://ackworthborn.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/cat-in-basket.html but linky won't pick the image up again.
ReplyDeleteThey've done a good job! What a happy tradition - it will be teh great grand children helping soon! :)
ReplyDeleteJust remembered I had another blue that I just had to share with you. Too cute to miss. Happy Blue Monday!

I love photos of ornaments. Your tree looks festive and fun.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can help me. I cannot get my link to post but if you end up with multiples, I apologize. I tried a few times but it never went up
I also have Christmas Trees, Happy Blue Monday.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tradition, Sally. Christmas is a wondrous time, especially for children and their memories of these happy times will stay with them for all their lives.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking tree you have! My image this week is an abstract that I created from the star that we have on top of our tree :-)
I have to apologise that I forgot to add my link last week! I blame it on the winter bug I've been suffering. This is what I did http://miradordesign.wordpress.com/2014/12/08/rhs-photographic-competition-winner-2014/
Happy holidays!
Sarah
Good morning Sally, I know a visit from your grands was a special day. I wish mine were close enough to help me with our Christmas tree. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteYour blue ornaments are all pretty and I can tell your memory tree could tell lots of stories. So many Christmas memories are such happy thoughts.
Happy Blue Monday,
Love, Jeanne
Memory Christmas trees are the best! Mine is a memory tree too. Love that blue mosaic star -- beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Sally!
Sally, I have lots of blue and silver bulbs on my tree this year. Love the color.
ReplyDeleteO, yes, our tree is a Memory Tree and I wouldn't have it any other way
ReplyDeleteToday, however, I am sharing a little turquoise blue tree in our kitchen.
Merry Christmas, dear Sally.
Hi, joining for the first time. Surprising all the 'blue' you can find in things. I'll enjoy going through all the posts. I checked though, and there are very few blues among our Christmas ornaments.
ReplyDeleteSally, enjoyed viewing your memorable blue Christmas ornaments. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhen growing up, we had a lot of old traditions, but not many left now. Sorry, but I do not even have a tree up this year. Why bother just me. I do enjoy seeing what others have. I like your ornaments.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're all set for the holidays! And so sweet of your granddaughters to help put the Christmas tree up. Perhaps one day, you'd share some of your fondest stories connected to the tree ornaments, I'd be looking forward to reading it :)
ReplyDeleteIn the Company of Me
I left off those memory ornaments and went with all new and shiny ones. . . you will love the fact that I made a second trip to the attic for those special ornaments.
ReplyDeleteThat's what it is all about!!
Merry Christmas Sally~
Oh I love your tradition, I have enough handmade ones to fill a tree of my own.
ReplyDeleteAnn
I love Memory tree's. This year I did not put one up because of the dog and cat but for sure next year I will because I will be hosting for my side of the family. Love your ornaments and decorations Sally!
ReplyDeleteHello to the happy "Blue's" Monday, thanks for hosting sweet lady.
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas Ornaments are very lovely. I wish we had a Christmas Tree at home. Sadly, we don't have one. :-(
ReplyDeleteHi Sally, great tradition and now adult grandchildren who are enjoying their memories with you as they help decorate. Thank you for Blue Monday, always look forward to joining in.
ReplyDeleteRob
I love traditions too.
ReplyDeleteI am changing things up a bit now. All the girls are out on there own and scattered and it is time they start their own traditions. Maybe me too.
Sally I tried twice to add my pic and it never showed up. What did I do wrong??
Thanks

Great tradition, I really love your decorations; happy Monday :)
ReplyDeleteOrnements de Noël merveilleux, belles compositions !!
ReplyDeleteThe same happened here - only with fewer blue ornaments!
ReplyDeleteHello Sally,
ReplyDeletethank you for visiting my blog. I now put a link on my post to Blue Monday, but I'm not sure I was able to link it up here... I'm not so familiar with Mr Linky, sorry.
I do have some chairs, lights and a cute little guy in BLUE too, sweet lady. I do have a lovely porcelain Dutch ball somewhere in the tree in blue too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much dearest Sally, I am thrilled to be able to join your great party.
Happy holiday season. Have a blessed week too.
FABBY
Sally you are a real gem! Sorry for my tardiness today, lots going on. I always enjoy reading what you are up to. I love Christmas so I enjoyed this lovely tradition. Have a beautiful week. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWe have so much fun decorating our tree too. My mother always said to add a bird to your tree, it is good luck! I found a little red cardinal but he chirps when anyone walks by! Drives the cats crazy! I found the little blue bird my mother gave me years ago. He is in his own little nest. I will share him next week. Such a memory for me! Takes my breath away! I collect nativity sets too so I am having a competition with my daughter Noelle! She has twelve nativity sets, I have 9! She has a very beautiful Irish Nativity set and all the Thomas Kinkade village houses. Sigh! I must take some photos at her house soon. Hugs to you and yours
ReplyDeleteQuite enjoyed checking out all the blogs. Almost all a different circle of blogs that I haven't encountered before - and a huge variety of 'blues'!
ReplyDeleteI was too late with my "blue" post this week, Sally, but just wanted to say your tree is beautiful.. every bit as beautiful as the love and laughter that are behind its tradition. Your blue decorations are very pretty. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteWe do have a couple of memories on our tree but it's mostly just a red, green and gold theme.
ReplyDeleteI just love your ornaments! There is nothing like adding them to our trees every year and go back in time to very sweet memories. Great post! Maria
