Blue Monday - Blue Monster!

Welcome. It's Blue Monday! It's all about blue today.

Ever since the first day of spring, this giant blow-up Blue monster has been on display in front of this Kia car dealership that faces a busy street in Tampa. It's summer now, but I finally have the time to post my pictures. So although it's been taken down, we can all still [:blink:] over it.

When I first saw it, I knew it'd be a perfect Blue Monday post! I took this picture through our tinted windshield.

Now, THAT's Blue!
Then Johnny actually pulled over and got out of the car to take this shot!
What a cooperative husband!

Looking at the size of this Blue monster, I wonder how it can help car sales.
Would sales have decreased rather than increased!
What do you think? Would this Blue monster entice you to buy a car?

Blue Monday - Blue Candy Review

I keep a candy dish by my front door. Visitors are encouraged to help themselves. My grown children and grandchildren enjoy this long-standing tradition. If you squint, you'll see it currently contains Blue candy.

One candy I've always loved is York Peppermint Patties. Why, I remember waaay back when I was pregnant, convincing Johnny that my heartburn would be helped if I had one! Then he'd make a special trip to the store. (He's so easy!)

Here's a close-up of my candy dish with the Blue and white candy.

The Blue and white candy sells in 10.5oz bags for about $4.00.

These M & M-sized candies are supposed to taste like a York Peppermint Pattie; however, I found the outside coating interferes with the taste I love.

If you like the taste of the original, but don't wish to consume a full-size candy bar, try this smaller version:

They are not Blue, but they do taste just like the larger ones.
However, I cannot promise that they cure heartburn!

Blue Monday - 52 is a Big Number!

Blue is the "new" summer color--in particular, aqua blue. Since we are (ahem!) always in style, Johnny and I are seen here sporting our new aqua blue shirts.

The occasion is our 52nd wedding anniversary on July 7th. Yes, although I am only thirty-five years old, I have been married fifty-two years, and THAT is a big number! (Hey, I can pretend!) If you're interested, you can see our story here and here.

We celebrated with dinner at a local restaurant with family. Jane came all the way from Pennsylvania and made my favorite cake--a yummy coconut cake--made exactly like my mother used to make it! It's a yellow cake with white icing, which is of course, homemade. None of that canned icing! I'll give you the easy recipe.

Butter Icing
½ stick butter, room temperature and creamed
1 tsp. vanilla
couple shakes of salt
Mix with electric beater until fluffy, then alternate
1 lb. 10x confectioner's (or powdered) sugar with enough milk for spreading consistency.

Ice between layers and press on a thick layer of Baker's Angel Flake Coconut. Ice the sides and top and press on a thick layer of coconut. Enjoy!

Blue Monday - Curbing

Blue is everywhere! In my never-ending search for things Blue, I bring you pictures of the curbing recently done around our planting beds. You may remember that we moved into our new home this past December.

Notice the sky--a pale Blue, and there are other touches of my favorite color. I'll show you some close-ups.

I'll bet you noticed the Blue water bucket on the back of the truck; it's important to stay hydrated.
This is summer in Florida!

Look! Not one, but four Blue wheelbarrows!

The machine that molds the curbing is Blue, and notice the Blue shirt on one of the workers.

Ah, the sky has turned to a pretty Blue. Nice.
The workers have imprinted the curbing with a stamp.
They've covered our pavers with protected paper to keep them clean.
