Blue Monday - Blue Nativities

Welcome to the place to show off your blues!

It's a good idea to show Blue Monday's icon--the blue jay. Many people place the Blue Monday button at the top of their post so that visitors can easily find their Blue Monday post. For instructions, just click here.

I love to see the many ways blogland show their blues.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I began collecting nativities some years ago. The ones I'm sharing today all contain our celebrated color Blue! This is a music box that I bought after Christmas a couple of years ago. See the Blue blanket?
Here's my Blogger's Cookier Jar. I call it Blogger's Cookier Jar because it has a rooster on the roof! This is the only rooster in my home--that means that I am BARELY a blogger!
Several characters are dressed in Blue, and even the walls of the stable contain Blue!
My mother's favorite color was Blue, and she made this for me in 1972. She's been gone for quite some time, and therefore, this set becomes more precious each year. It has been broken and badly repaired several times (by me). I know that it's no longer perfect, but I cannot bear to throw it out. It was made and given with love.
Here's a whimsical teddy bear nativity scene with plenty of Blue. I've had it for several years.
I did not even know what a cloche was until I began blogging, but now I love to display things in mine. This nativity scene has Blue on Mary and Jesus.
You can get a better view with the cloche removed.
Happy Blue Monday
and I wish you
a Blessed Christmas!
Good morning dear Sally, I am linking late because I just finished posting. I was too tired to finish last night. We were at our church until 10:pm helping feed the workers for our live Nativity and also standing out in the cold as an angel. Bill laughed about that one. It was beautiful Sally. Our parking lot turned into Bethlehem and it was the most beautiful nativity you have ever seen. We did this for 3 nights and we had over 400 drive through visitors. Our small church (200) involved almost every member for this production and it was amazing.
And today your post is perfect for my frame of mind. The reason for the season is on your lovely post today. You have some precious nativities. I see you now have an official cloche. Smile. It shows off the nativity so pretty. Beautiful post Sally.
Christmas love, Jeanne
Your nativities are lovely. What do roosters have to do with blogging? Am I missing something?
And, I've only seen the word 'cloche' on one other site and still don't understand exactly what is means but yours is beautiful.
I know we're all busy right now but when you get a little time could you please explain all this to me? Thanks.
srp said...
I collect them too. These are lovely. We have the entire white bisque set that Avon put out years ago, a hand carved set from Germany, a light terra cotta set, a brightly painted and rather large set made from tin, a cute little bisque set with figures that remind me of little kids, a carving of the Holy Family in olive wood and my favorite... a more modern set with copper accents in the stars and staffs and the wise men's gifts... it was made by an artist in Mississippi out of a white clay and she used her grandmothers hand tatted lace to make moulds and imprinted the clay with these different lace patterns. It is so simple and elegant and so different.
Oh Sweet Smiling Sally, thanks for stopping by The Hut to wish me a Blessed Christmas, you brought a smile to my heart.
I adore your collection of nativities, they remind me of my mother. She loved setting hers out each year and now my sister and I trade it off each year, alternating with her porcelain tree.
Yes, it is TOO cold for Florida, but I was out this morning taking pictures of the total lunar eclipse for my blog. What we go through to share with others, I do believe I have frostbite, lol.
Merry Christmas Sally, to you and yours, may you be surrounded with the love of family and friends now and in in the New Year.
Sally, those are lovely! I'm so glad you shared this with us. I am sitting here reading on Christmas Eve, and it makes me heart swell to think that our Savior was soon to be born into the world two thousand years ago. Isn't it something when you really stop and think of it?
I've been under the weather, and this is the first time I've blogged in eons. But I wanted to be sure and drop by to tell you how much I love you and to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas. More on what has been going on in a post on my blog so I won't reiterate here.
Merry Christmas, my friend!
