Blue Monday - Blue Recycling Bins

Hello! It's Blue Monday! For complete instructions, just click here.

Last week's 5th Blogiversary celebration was so special to me. Thank you so much for all of your remarks and well wishes.

As I type this, my sick computer has "died" (hard drive!). It is being fixed by the Apple Store. They are promising me that it should be home and A-OK by Sunday evening, but just in case, I want to promise you that even if I cannot attend to your links on Monday, I will visit everyone eventually. (I am typing this on a borrowed granddaughter's laptop.)
See what other Blue participants have to share by clicking on their photos. Make someone's day when you wish them a Happy Blue Monday!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a shot of the thousands of new 65-gallon Blue recycling bins, before distribution throughout Hillsborough County, where I live.
The bins are essential to the county's new automated garbage collection system. The county tells us that it will save $8.34 per month; however, our taxes will increase in order to pay for the bins and new trucks. (sigh)
Here you see the actual delivery of the Blue bins being made. (I felt so fortunate to "catch" these shots.)
Each home receives one Blue recycling bin and one 95-gallon gray trash bin. These are ours.
Each of our neighbors have a duo waiting in front of their home. Each homeowner is asked to store the containers in their garage until the end of September when the new system will begin.
Here's the new, Blue, expensive, automated truck demonstrating how each Blue bin will be emptied.
I wonder if recycling will ever pay for itself.
Happy Blue Monday!
We have had recycled bins far sometime now. They are not worth what we have to pay. Sorry about your computer. I am holding my breath that mine does not go out. Only reason, I am commenting this late, I watched the Cowboys finally win a game.
Hi Sally, finally I have LOTS of blue on my post. I hate it when my computer has to go in for help, especially when it is the hard drive. Hope yours comes back just they way you want it.
Thanks for hosting Blue Monday.
Thanks for hosting Sally. I posted about my trip up north (BC) where I am on a mill shut down job. Love getting to see the interior of BC to and from the job, but it is sure a long drive.
I hope your computer can be fixed quickly, Sally!
You are fortunate your community provides the new garbage and recycle cans! We had to purchase our own.
Interesting. Our recycling bins are black with a yellow lid.
Interesting! In Germany, these cars are white. But the tons for old paper are also blue.
Happy blue Monday and thanks for hosting :-)
Only two bins! We have blue bins for paper, red bins for plastic/glass, brown bins for garden refuse and black bins for everything else, fines for overfilling them or leaving them out on the wrong day.
That's quite an impressive garbage recycling truck! In my "old" town we had grey for daily garbage, blue for recycling, and green for garden cuttings.
Quite alright that you put in the link for me - I had just not gotten to your blog yet, but I laughed because a host of another meme had done it too (Mandarin Monday)!
I like your photoseries on blue.
The first thing I noticed is that both cans are the same size. Isn't it wonderful that people can recycle as much as they throw away! I think your new system will start paying for itself as far as the cost on the earth right away. I once lived in a place where we had to pay $2.00 for each special trash bag but were able to recycle as much as we wanted for free.
Yay to the sweet granddaughter for letting you borrow her laptop so you can open Monday's grandest Blue Party in the Blogosphere.
The final photo of the blue truck looks cute. Something cheery young boys would love to ride. Those recycling bins, first photo, somehow remind me of a ship.
Thank you Sally, for Blue Monday.
Love the blue bins. I hope that system can be done at our place. But knowing the Philippine gov't.... one can only dream.
The trucks here are yellow but not as good as that blue truck.
Our government never gives us any trash bin.
Hi Sally Isn't it nice that the recycle cans are blue. Smile. Love your blue today. We have to take our garbage to the dump including our recycle items. the fun of living in the mountains. NOT! However our view and the weather makes it up in spades.
Bad news about my sister. I'll be in touch.
Love, Jeanne
We've had these bins for years as well. We no longer have to deal with them since we downsized to a condo.
I think they are an eyesore and I doubt they save any money. I have watched them mix both the bins together!
Better than our bins!
I have read that the recycling takes so much gasoline, oil, special trucks, bins, etc that it actually causes more "footprints" than it saves. Since I'm in a neighboring county, I suspect this may be coming our way too, one day.
Yes, some nice pictures, a decent job!
We recycle so much that our can needs to be much larger..lol
Happy Blue Monday Sally, have a great week :)
Sally, trust Apple will have you up and running soon. Believe the jury is still out on the impact of recycling.
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your computer! I would feel lost. Congrats on 5 years, too! I just linked up my bedroom update ~ I used some soft blues with the white and gray. :)
First, thank you for your sweet words on my blog Sally.
Lots of blue bins and I like the colors to show in the streets.
I hope you can get your computer repaired speedily. I also hope your recycling bins are better designed than ours, if it rains water collects on the top back, then if I open the lid the water goes into the bin. Yuck!
I have some personal art and flowers this month.
Wish we had recycling where we live. I have to take it to a town 10 miles away.
