Farm Stores Egg Nog

Shh! Some people in my family are addicted to a special egg nog that can only be found in one place.

Years ago, it was easy to satisfy their longings, but ever since 2001, when most of the Farm Stores closed, egg nog has been quite difficult to buy. Not just any egg nog will do, you see. It must be Farm Stores brand.

We've recently found a supplier.

Farm Stores are a chain of little convenience stores that started in Miami, Florida. A customer would simply drive through either side of the store; never leaving their car.

This sign has been a beacon to many.

They sell a small variety of essentials, all reasonably priced.

We called in advance and a sweet guy named Ken promised to save two bottles for us. As we pull in and introduce ourselves, making our request known, Ken steps into the refrigerated back room to find the liquid gold.

This plain bag contains two half gallons of the source of smiles for my daughter and son-in-law. Oops! I gave away the identities of the addicts, but you won't tell, will you?

Ken tells us that folks from as far away as Georgia come for this elixir. Note: it contains no alcohol; it needs none.

Don't ever taste this stuff, or you too will become addicted. There is no comparison with any other brand!

*Update: as of Dec., 2015, It's still sold in the Tampa area.

OOO, don't cha know that I am beside myself now to taste this necture of the Gods!!
I do love me some egg nog and my daddy could make the BEST. O, I miss him so much and especially at Christmas time!! :) His wasn't cooked so therefore, all those raw eggs would now make me uneasy. My mom, bless her heart, would add the whiskey to it, saying all the time that the whiskey would "cook" the eggs. haaaahhaaha...I sure wish they both were in my kitchen right this minute, mixing up that wonderful nog !!!!

Thanks for the warning Sally (LOL). Hopefully this eggnog are only sold once a year or you'll be in so much trouble. When I ever get to FL during winter time, I'll probably look for that brand of eggnog.

I soooo wish that I liked eggnog. It looks and smells so good, but I will keep trying. I actually saw a pumpkin eggnog in the stores at Thanksgiving. Hmmm!

I'm not an egg nog fan; but, who knows, maybe if I tasted farm stores brand I would be. Please, English teacher, don't diagnose or diagram that last sentence!!! Take care, Sally

I don't like egg nog though I try it every year....you know tastes change. I have never heard of a Farm Store. Are they only in Florida?

Hope you are having a wonderful day.♥

Thi is a very cute posting! We have similar stores up here in the northeast called Swiss Farm...I wonder if they are related! :) I will have to try their egg nog, but will hunt a Farm Store down during my January visit to FL! Hopefully they will still have the golden nectar! Yum!

I've never heard of them. I'm not sure there are farm stores in new mexico. I'll have to look around and see. I'm particularly fond of egg nog at this time of year too. :)

Hi Most Smiling One! I've never heard of these tiny stores but I love the concept. I could drive up in my robe and slippers and no one would see me! :) Now you know I wouldn't do that! :)
Shoot! Now I want to taste this elixir! I guess I'm a tad too far to drive over!

I haven't stopped by here for ages, but that is such a funny story. I like you were kind of incognito, like on a secret mission. And taking the pics of Ken, I wonder what he thought of you doing that--like you caught him 'in the act'. I have to admit, I don't care for eggnog, but that is a cute story.

Just what I need, something else to crave. We rarely, if ever, have eggnog. But don't you know. Now I want some. And I don't want just any old eggnog. I want this kind that can't be found in the Southwest.

Good morning Sally. My computer service has been off for hours since a bad storm yesterday. We just got service and the first half of my post is up. I wanted to stop by first because I haven't been over.

I remember farm stores when we lived in Miami, one block off of Old Cutler Road. We lived on 162nd Street. That is where a Farm Store was very near by. I did not ever try their eggnog. I wish I had, now that you tell us how good it is. How lucky that you found one again.

Hugs, Jeanne

Wish we had a store like this. I love eggnog, without the hard stuff. I get mine at Braums. Enjoy enough for me.

Well I do love eggnog too but here we have Bordens. It's also non- alchoholic. Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without it. I recently found a recipe to make eggnog with vanilla pudding to elimate the danger of eating raw eggs but i think I will stick to the original. Thanks for the infor about the jell-o. I hope you have a great day ♥

They should sell it online!
You mentioned being vintage yourself because you had a hat like the girl on one of my postcards. I had a similar one also, in the 70s.

We have what they lovingly call Brew Thrus. Haha. I bought some eggnog the other day and it was awful. It was thin and watery and it wasn't even low fat. I may just have to try and make my own.

How wonderful! I thought I and my family were the only ones to think Farm Stores egg nog was worth herculean effort to possess.

It is one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted and I've been enjoying it (too much!) for years!

We live in Fort Lauderdale so we're lucky that there we're close enough to be able to drive to one without that much hassle.

If the eggnog taste half as good as the label I'm sure it's woderful. I have never seen such a pretty label on eggnog before.

There is absolutely no comparison to Farm Stores eggnog. I live in Wisconsin, which offers excellent ice cream custard, but I'm disappointed to find that of all the dairy farms in the state, nothing is remotely similar to Farm Stores eggnog. I'm surprised they haven't tried distributing this nationally as I personally know of many that would buy it at a premium.

It pours in clumps, the smell uninviting, and the first sip might be different, but it is incredibly addictive, and gets better with each sip. You have to be really careful to pace yourself as it disappears quickly.

I've had relatives that have even had it shipped home. I'll be in South Florida in January, so I'll have a chance to get some for the first time in several years.

I grew up in S. Florida, and am now forced away from the glorious nog that only Farm Stores can create. I wish I knew what dairy they used so that I could order direct year round. It is truly that delicious. Is there any way I could convince you to ship me a couple gallons of the gloriously addictive elixir?

My family is the same way!!! My dad called me a few days ago saying he found a Farm Store in Melbourne (we live in the Orlando area) and the phone call was like a kid finding his favorite toy lost for years... He picked up 2 half gallons and my wife, who has never tried this stuff, and I are heading over there today to have a glass or two!!! I was trying to Google the ingredients used to show my wife and found your blog, it is soooo true!!! Have a great holiday season and hope you find some near you this year!

Sally... you are RIGHT ! ! This is the BEST egg nog EVER made. We have bought it and put it in the freezer to bring out on special occasions. We even served it at a wedding reception. We live in South Carolina so it is not easy to get... over the years we have some funny stories to tell about getting the Farm Store egg nog. It is worth the drive to Florida.. ok.. maybe that is a bit extreme but it is up there with Disneyworld... to me....

Hi Everyone!
There's been so much demand! Last year we streamlined our eggnog shipping process to deliver it nationwide. We sent fresh eggnog as far as California and Wisconsin. This year, we are ready to do it again, and sell even more of our famous "liquid gold".

If you would like to have our eggnog shipped to you this holiday season, call us directly at 305-677-0616. Our online grocery fulfillment center will take your basic info, name, last name, and street address with zip code. We will then calculate the shipping and call you back on a Monday or Tuesday to complete the transaction and ship immediately UPS 2-Day Air. Your Eggnog will arrive that same week Thursday or Friday in a cooler, always fresh!

Order for yourself, family or a friend who has not yet had the pleasure.

Best Wishes,

Jorge

Hello Sally. People it is true this is by far the best eggnog you can ever have. I have a farm store /(Vaquita) which is the actual Spanish name a block from my house and when the holiday season comes around I love buying their one of a kind eggnog, its the most delicious THICK consistancy, light flavor eggnog you can ever drink.Ive been dying to find the recipe so I can make it at home just a bit ( only a bit ) less thick and just for the fact that I love cooking and rather make me one than buying it and also for the fact that since I find it so rich and thick my mind automatically thinks that in drinking about 1000 calories per cup lolol nd even though I get that urge to just jogg the entire bottle in my mouth I dont like feeling like a fat ass ..lolol difinition for a fat ass here in Miami a person who just likes to eat anything thats not low calorie/fat free/ sugar free /healthy etc. Lololol So if Sally you have or anyone you know has the recipe, I would love for you to post it up so I can make it pleaseeeeeeeeeee...WARNING VERY ADDICTING DRINK. BEST IN THE WORLD★★★★★. And I've tried more than 15 brand and the vaquitas is the # 1, THE BEST..Hope you all can try it .Thanks

Growing up in Miami,I never knew there was any other kind of eggg nog except Farm Stores brand. I remember that when you poured it, it made a glugging sound it was so thick- like soft ice cream. It was only available around the holidays, but we would have bought it year round if we could have!

:) Well... here we are, a year later from your post about the Farm Stores eggnog and you are still drawing people to this blog! :D My Canadian husband and I used to live in Coconut Grove back in the early 1980s and that is when we discovered the Farm Stores eggnog. We have now moved out of the country and I would LOVE to get a list of the ingredients listed on the back of the container! Seems to me that I remember it had tapioca in it and that was what I sumised was the secret to the thickness. Since Christmas is coming up soon, if you are able to buy a carton, can you PLEASE post the ingredients? I know no one can make it exactly like they do, but we moved up to Canada and they just don't make eggnog ANYWHERE up here like the wonderful, old Farm Stores brand! Thank you! An old Florida Gal. :)

Ahhh... my mistake... SEVEN YEARS after your post!!! My-oh-my! Yes! Farm Stores Eggnog is really and truly THE BEST!!! Once you taste it, NOTHING else will do!!! Many thanks for the great memories! Best regards, An old Florida Gal :)

P.S. I will keep this link in case you (hopefully) post those magical ingredients! ♥

Hi Sally,
I grew up in Miami, with Farm Stores.
This was THE BEST EGGNOG!
In fact I was looking for the recipe when I came across your blog.
I'm hoping to replicate it in the next couple of weeks.

I have traveled all the way from North Carolina to get Farm Stores eggnog. I grew up in South Florida and have been "addicted" to it ever since I can remember. I haven't been able to find any in the past couple years.😢😢

HeartChaser said...

As someone who grew up in South Florida and drinking Farm Stores eggnog as long as I can remember, it's worth going to the ends of the earth to get. I've gotten both my kids and my niece and nephew to love it as much as I do. I did read the ingredients the last time I had some (it's been a few years now) and it does have tapioca, but it also has a lot of sugar. The good thing is that even though it's rich, you can freeze it and it will last quite a while. And while I don't get some every year, I will drive from Atlanta to Tampa to pick some up.

They have eggnog at the Farm Store on Bay to Bay in Tampa until December 31. It used to be sold at Easter as well, but no more.
I've been addicted to it since I went to college in Miami back in the 70's.
