Hunting for Christmas

Johnny and I went shopping a few weeks ago to The Christmas Palace, a store containing everything Christmas. I posted about this earlier for a Pink Saturday. We just KNEW that we'd find what we "needed" inside this store.

We were looking for an outdoor nativity scene, as the one we've been using wore out; it actually broke apart last year. This beautiful set is quite elaborate, but it's for indoor use. It is enclosed in a glass display case that's had quite a few noses pressed against it--that's why it's a bit blurry.

Here's an outdoor nativity set, but it's only a little over 2 feet tall. That's too small for my taste.

This one was the correct size, but the faces look kind of spooky to me.

Here is the PERFECT set! We didn't buy it though, because it cost almost $700.00. Johnny said, "NO!"

We left empty-handed and discouraged. However, a couple of days before Thanksgiving, we went to good old Walmart and found our solution. It's 4 feet high and cost $40.00. It even lights up at night! Johnny put it in our front yard, and here it it:

Now, the hunt for Christmas is over.

PS Thank you to the people who gave me suggestions on yesterday's post. Birdwoman really left a good bit of helpful information, and I'm in debt to her.

I like your solution, and I have to agree that the $700 set is beautiful. My hubby would have said no as well.

Your header is beautiful, too.

Have a good day, Sally.

Hi Sally,
I think for the price you made a great outdoor choice. I'm on the hunt this year for an inside nativity...
I'm hoping to be able to do Blue Monday this week. I'll be in San Francisco. All this travelling at Christmas is cramping my blogging style :0)

Good solution, even though I love the expensive one! Sally

I have seen those expensive ones and they are gorgeous. Although I would love to have one, it is a bit much for the front yard. The last few years have proven that there are some Scrooges around the area with the thefts of the infant from Nativity sets. Imagine that!!

I like that Nativity set. Not bad price either. Better than that $700. I would be nervous having that expensive one outside.

I've learned to always check Walmart first before I go anywhere else to buy anything. And I'm so envious of anyone who actually has a yard to put a nativity scene in. Our condo has a balcony, but it's too small for anything more than a few strings of lights. Very good choice!

Hi Sally, I am really late visiting today. My sister and I went on a hunt for deer meet. We drove seven hours on a round trip and brought home a freezer full. We do love venison.

Your hunt for Christmas resulted in a beautiful find. That is just gorgeous. I can just see it all lit up.

You are in the drawing for
tonight's give-a-way. Do you feel lucky?

Hugs...Jeanne

That $700 is really nice, but too rich for me. I like the one you ended up with. Very nice!

I got my book, Lost and Found, yesterday! Thank you! I will post about it in a few days.

Very simple...and much nicer that $700!! I'm glad you got a good laugh from Tammy's post. When I read it I thought...everyone should see this!!! Every now and then I think that about a post...now I'll have a way to help at least a few people find something they might miss. I just wish there were more Wednesdays in a week! Have a great night!

Thanks sweet Smiling Sally! I needed that tour after the day I had. It helped me to dwell on those things that are lovely.

XO,

Sheila (hope you're warmer than we are here!)

That was a beautiful nativity but for $700 you made the right choice. I've noticed a few around town here and they look nice. ~ Robyn
