Go to her place to join in the fun!I follow HGTV, and they say that in order to sell a home, you must neutralize it. That is, remove all knickknacks, personal items, and pictures of family members. Here's my before with my seven grandchildren's pictures:

I found this metal thingy at Home Goods for $14.99. I like it enough that I plan to use it in our future home.
This idea of framing would work on any wall to "enlarge" the wall hanging.

Well, I really like the "thingy" you found - it looks very stylish. But I love the way the wall looked in the "before" shot, too. Yes, I guess "neutralizing" is necessary, but it's definitely not as interesting as seeing an actual lived-in house.

Love the Thingamabobber! Even more, I enjoy your creativity Sally. We are moving just a bit more up town to a larger space. We will still be in Colorado. That looks so cool. By itself, it wouldn't make much impact but in the frame, it is a major work of art. You know you could even paint it blue in your new home. LOL I think it would be awesome over a bed, I want one!

It is beautiful both ways but the experts appear to be right about this. We did this at my Mother's house and the next people bought the house. Could have had something to do with it.

I love the wall both ways and if I loved the house, the family pics would not be a deterrent.
Yep I have always heard to take out all family pictures so the "new" family could see themselves in the home. GREAT job!
I disagree with HGTV there -- every home we have bought and sold has been "personalized." Nevertheless, that is a great art piece!
Great idea. Lord if I decided to sell, I'd just have to move everything out and start over cause everything in my house is personalized...lol..

I IS hard to put away the family photos, isn't it?....but they do say it's they way to sell a home. I love your solution. I actually had a built in frame in my hallway years ago for family pictures. Yours is much prettier, though. :-)

Your wall looks pretty both ways. I don't know if I agree with the neutralizing or not. Personally I love to see what people have done with their houses to make it a home.

What a pretty piece! Yes, one of my best friends is a realtor and she says this is true. When the future buyers come in, without all the personal items around, they can better vision themselves living there. But...whatever YOU did was the thing to do...look how fast you sold your home.

Isn't it funny...how they say to "neutralize" your home when trying to sell it? I think it's a "new-fangled" idea! Hehe! We never used to even consider such things and funny how our homes used to still sell! I guess it has something to do with the new generation! Anyway, I loved the photos of your grandchildren too!
