Movie Review: All About Steve

Sandra Bullock plays the part of Mary Horowitz, a quirky, love-starved, crossword puzzle constructor who, attacks a hunky cable news cameraman, Steve, during a record short blind date. Her character is not at all believable. She's supposed to be overly intelligent, yet she cannot see how foolishly she consistently behaves.

Many mishaps occur during adventurous travels as Steve chases news stories, and Mary chases Steve.

The film is filled with close-ups of Bullock smiling and with close-ups of Bullock laughing with her head thrown back. If you are a big fan of her pretty face, this movie is worth your dollars. Johnny and I did laugh--and laugh loudly during several spots. However, there was way too much needless profanity, and the plot is a weak one. For these reasons, I'd say wait to rent it or better yet, see it for free on TV.

I'm glad to read your review Sally--you concur with what the newspaper reviewers are saying--that this movie is not so great. I really like Sandra Bullock a lot, so I'm sorry to hear that this movie isn't a good one. I won't be going to the movies to see this one!

thanks for the heads up! I was wondering if this would be good or not...I didn't really think the trailers were that good.

Thanks Sally!!

This sounds good!! I hate theaters anyway and need the DVD for closed caption. I do like Sandra Bullock though. If you read the Kinsey Millhone books by Sue Grafton, don't you think she's play a marv Kinsey??

I read a review about that movie in the paper the other day and it got an "F". Not sure if I care to see it for that reason.

Sandra Bullock has always made mediocre movies for the most part. All of the ratings have been bad I think to this movie, but mark my words, people will pay good money to go... What's up with that???? ha

Thanks for the review.

Betsy

We just saw Julie/Julia yesterday, and saw the previews of the Steve movie. Even the previews seemed phony to me - don't think I'll be spending any money to see it. Sally

I just about never go to the movies. I think if I decide to watch this I will wait until it is on tv for free. With that said, I did take Tim to the movies for his birthday and saw the preview for another Sandra Bullock movie that looks very good. Sadly, I can't remember the name of it.

take care,
Dawn

I have heard similar reviews from others. I do like Sandra Bullock, so I'm sorry this movie sounds like such a flop. Thanks for the review. I will wait for the t.v. version, because that's what Sally advised. laurie

Thanks for the review Sally! I was hoping it would be good but must say, from what the trailer looked like, AND the reviews, we will pass. Phooey. I so love a good romantic comedy bit this probably isn't a GOOD one! *grin*
