Booking Through Thursday - 5 for Favorites

1. Do you have a favorite author?

2. Have you read everything he or she has written?

3. Did you LIKE everything?

4. How about a least favorite author?

5. An author you wanted to like, but didn’t?

My Response:
I just posted about my favorite author, Angela Hunt, a couple of days ago on my other blog. She's released a new title, Dreamers, and I reviewed it here. I've read twenty-two of her novels, but not everything she's written. I can honestly say that I liked everything, but of course there are some titles I LOVED!

¥es, I do have an author who I cannot bear to read, but I won't be unkind enough to mention his name. I suppose I could name Faulkner for #5.

How about you? Do you have a favorite?

I felt that this post needed some Christmas, so I copied the following from the December issue of Reader's Digest.

Ring My Cell Rock
(To "Jingle Bell Rock")

Ring my cell, ring my cell, ring my cell rock.
You're in the car, and bored, so you talk.
Call me 'bout nothing 'cause minutes are free
"Now I'm turnin' left," you tell me.

Ring my cell, ring my cell, ring my cell rock.
Ring all the time, I'm losing my mind.
Blather and chatter because you're my spouse.
Though you just left the house!

What a nightmare, it sits right there
To pass the time away.
Turn your phone on and you drone on:
"I had a cheese Danish today, yay!"

Nonstop yap, there's my cell ringin' again.
Clackin' around the clock.
I hear the ringle and wish I were single.
That's the ring my cell,
Jingle ringle bell,
That's the ring my cell rock

I do have a couple of favorite authors. I used to read every thing by Stephen King. I think I've gotten myself behind with some of his newer books. I also like Nicholas Sparks and Jodi Picoult.

take care,
Dawn

Hi Sally,
I guess I don't have one favorite author..I like lots of them!

I have read lots of stuff by John Grisham, Jodi Picoult, and James Patterson.

I also like Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Nicholas Sparks, Anita Shreve...oh well you get the picture!

I'll have to check out your favorite author!

I have a recent favorite author and I have been reading her Mitford series. Her name is Jan Karon. If you haven't read these books Sally, I believe you would love them. They are religious based and wonderful. Start with book one and don't read ahead. Loads of humor and awesome characters.

Have a wonderful day.

Hugs...Jeanne

I don't have a favorite...I do like D. Steele since I love fiction. There is an author that I can't think of her name...she writes the best stories with a religious base...I do wish I could remember her name...seems it starts with a J. and maybe a W for the last name...hmmm
Have a wonderful day, Sweet Sally,
bj

I really don't have a favorite, but there is one I wanted to like but didn't. It's Janet Evanovich. Please don't hold this against me!!!

The ones I keep going back to are Grisham, Sparks, Woods, Michael Crichton and others.

Hi Sallyness! I don't think I have a favorite author! If I like someone's writing, I start reading their books until I get tired of them and move on!!
Be a sweetie,

Hi, Sally!

You need to send us some warmth up here. We're quite cold this morning in the northern hinterlands of Florida. ;-)

Love to read, and my favorites are Southern authors. I adore Eudora Welty for her short stories and Willie Morris for his heart-filled, extremely poignant stories about home. His Christmas story ranks way up there on my must-read-every-year list. I do love Faulkner, but I didn't when we had to read him in high school. Some time ago, I became determined to read my way through almost everything he wrote. When I did, I could see a lot of things I knew and people I once knew in terms of the characters in his work. He can be tedious, but he wrote against the tide in a time and place that even banned some of his work that today seems quite tame.

I like many of Shel Silverstein's books: The Giving Tree, Where the Sidewalk Ends, The Missing Piece. With children, you have to be careful with some of his poems, but he has a lot of humor, warmth, and wit in his work. I also love, love, love Langston Hughes.

I could go on and on, but those are some of my favorites... oh, and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, of course!

The Bible is still my numero uno. You can't beat God for a good read! :-)

XO,

Sheila

Like the song, it sounds like my husband and myself.

I used to really like Phyllis A. Whitney, but I definitely haven't read all her books.

I don't have a least favorite author. And I can't think of anything for #5 right this second.
*hugs*

I haven't read Angela Hunt yet, but I bought her last two books because they looked like books I'd enjoy. Glad to see her listed as your favorite.

Me and my husband are probably the only people in the world with out a cell phone. But if we did we would be calling each other like that song. We pretty much do it with email all day.

There are so many authors that I like that I don't have the courage just to name one or even a few. I walked by a built in bookcase in our family room that is filled with books and found myself saying, "That one, no that one, no this one..." I can't decide. I will say that almost all of my favorites are preachers or theologians. And yet I read a little bit of everything.

I have so many well-beloved authors it would be hard to name one favorite. I don't know that I've liked every little thing about all of them, but there are some that I like just about everything they've written. I couldn't come up with many concrete answers for this one.
