I have two happy spider plants to show you today. I keep one in a hanging pot in my screened porch. Notice the little "babies" that are seen on the ends of the long branches of the plant. It was a bit breezy yesterday when I snapped this picture, so all the babies are blown to one side.
If you plant a baby, it'll grow into a nice sized plant in no time.
See how my plant needs tending? Some of the older, larger babies have some brown leaves that should be removed. I am not the gardeners that Ann, and Tootsie are, I'm afraid.
Here's my favorite spider plant; I keep it indoors. This is one side of it.
Here is the other side. Notice, please, that there are no brown, unsightly branches. Do you know why?
Because it's faux! If it fooled you, don't feel funny. I've had visitors to my home, walk over to the plant and touch it because they didn't believe me when I told them that it wasn't real!

My mom always had spider plants, but I've never tried growing one. Do they do well indoors? Yours obviously has...hee hee!
Love spider plants -- they are easy to care for -- one resides year round in the front window of Linderhof (and alas, sometimes there are brown leaves!)
The spider plant looks great!!And the faux one inside?Ingenious!!
Great pictures!
I have one faux too! Great minds think alike!hehe Kathy
These are fun plants!
Yep, you got me...I think the faux plant looks great.
The real one is huge!
Sally, I had to run over here and tell you I linked to Susan's Mr. Linky successfully. Hooray. You did tell me something that helped. I made absolutely sure that I highlighted the WHOLE link. Thanks to you, I am smarter now. Big smile!!!
I do love spider plants and they have always been a part of my potted plants until now. I can't keep them alive in the winter here. You totally fooled me with your faux spider plant. Good one Sally. LOL.
Have a happy day.
Hugs...Jeanne
Morning, Sally! Oh, I used to have so many spider plants and need to get me another one! I'm so thrilled to know you love faux!! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Interesting...I have never seen a artificial spider plant. That was funny, and it did fool me! Sally, you have a beautiful yard. I can imagine it is a showplace.
You fooled me, but it's a perfect unreal plant !
And the real one so full of babies, wonderful !
now that is my kind of plant!!! And it really looks real!!
Thanks for visiting my blog -- yours is new to me! I enjoyed the tour, and I shall return!

O, you little trickster, you...my favorite kind of plant..FAUX...I just love 'em cause I have a had time keeping their REAL sisters alive.
I can see you have a beautiful kitchen...would you show it to us sometime? And, living right beside a lake?? Oh, my...stuff dreams are made of....
Sally... that silk spider plant would be my favorite too! I do love spider plants... they're so pretty...especially the veregated ones (not sure I spelled that right?)... but it gets so hot and dry here in the summer... just about every living thing on the porch kicks the bucket sometime in July... I have to remember to water hanging baskets 2X's a day, and I never remember...
Hope you have a beautiful Wednesday.
blessings. Dixie
I love your spider plant...your last one is the only kind I can grow...lol...thanks for sharing.
Molly
PS I love your view from your porch.
Oh my gosh, it's faux? You definitely fooled me. It looks incredibly real. I love plants like that...all the look but none of the work. Amy :)
Ahh, a faux plant, my favorite variety! LOL!
Forgot to add, thanks for the author suggestion in your comment on my blog. I will look for her books on my next trip to the library.
What lovely views! Is your spider plant made of silk? You
Ha! Love the views that came with faux! Those generally are the only indoor plants and porch plants that survive for me :0)
Hey my kids are headed to Orlando for my niece's new location for her wedding this Saturday! From Cancun to Orlando...what a quick new venue opened up for them :0)
Have a great rest of the week...
I just started a couple of babies in my pot as the "old" one was looking ratty and was pot bound. I do love them, don't you?
very tricky.....
what a beautiful view you have from the porch!
Hi Sally, I've been busy in my yard all morning, your yard is beautiful and the lake, breathless!!
You had me with your perfect indoor spider plant!!
Nice plants. I bet even I could keep that faux one looking good.
Love your plants even the faux plant!!
Diane
Oh Sally...you got me. I was just going to ask you how you make them look so perfect! Spider plants are still gorgeous faux or real.

Like you, I love spider plants...your plant is beautiful...I haven't had one for years...so I think I'll try to find one...good excuse to visit my favorite greenhouse isn't it...I'll tell them that "Smiling Sally" sent me....
Hi Sally, Sorry I haven't been around to visit much. Work hours are crazy and I don't have much time. You sure fooled me, they both look pretty good.
Kathleen
Beautiful plants, but your backyard is even more beautiful. I envy you living on water.
How pretty! I had forgotten all about these plants. I bet my boys would love one on our porch.
Your spider plants look great. Much better than mine. I'll have to take better care of mine so maybe, eventually, they will look like yours!
LOL Sally you are a hoot! I think God may have given us the same green thumb. Your spider plants (the real ones) look much better than any plants I try to grow. My plants are doing much better now. My hubby got sick of looking at them and took over. Now those little stinkers are flourishing. Go figure! I hope you are having a lovely day ♥
I love spider plants, real or fake. I haven't had one in ages.
I knew, Sally, that the last one wasn't real--once you asked the question. It is a good 'fake' one though--and does look real. Pretty!!!!
I had an outdoor Spider Plant once --and loved it. It did well---but then we moved, so I gave it away. Didn't buy another one ---don't know why!!!!!
Thanks for sharing yours.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Sally, I haven't had a spider plant in a while, and seeing yours made me ask myself why?
THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL PLANTS, AND YOU ARE RIGHT THE LITTLE BABIES DO MAKE GREAT PLANTS AS WELL. THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME TODAY OF THIS PLANT.
SUE
Ooops I didn't know my caps lock was on.!
Yep, you got me! I thought you were the super house plant guru, then you said it's faux! Hmmm, I think I can grow a faux one! I don't recall seeing any of that quality, so where did you find this lovely faux treasure? ☺ Diane
The only kind of plants I have any luck growing indoors are the faux kind!
Btw, you have a lovely view from your porch where your live plant is hanging!!
Sherri

You got me! It is a great faux plant. I have watched my real babies alike a hahk trying to grow new starts.
Thanks for all your comments and always being a bright spot in blogland!
Great one, Sally! I thought it was live, too!
Both plants look great!
You sneaky girl!! Some faux plants are so real these days. I love 'em!
I just spent some time at your Book Review blog. I will have to track down a couple of those books.
I have always loved spider plants Sally. I don't have any currently but I used to have several. Cats just love those hanging babies...
we used to have spider plants long ago. I think it was in the 60s or 70s. They are interesting. This post brought back memories.

Hi Sally. Happy OW. Your plant is gorgeous. I never had a green thumb. I've always killed plants even the babmboo things. :-(
Spider plants are cool...but I kill them at the same rate I kill every other house plant. I need one of those faux ones!
Oh you fooled us! lol to fun!
Smiles and have a great week:)
