I feel that a palm tree is a MUST for a Florida yard. I had several when we lived in South Florida. However, I've discovered that the Tampa area is zone 9, and I won't be able to enjoy the same tropic-loving palms I had before. So, the hunt is on for the Perfect Palm for this colder climate. This week, we were looking for palm trees, and at this nursery, we stumbled upon something even more exciting--a giant chicken.
Look at this lady strutting her stuff. At seven feet tall, she's the biggest chicken I've ever seen!
She's staring right into the camera lens. Look at that smile; why, she's posing!
Many bloggers have shown their rooster and chicken collections while I have had to sit quietly by. You see, I have never had a chicken or a rooster in my home; however, I do keep eggs.
Well, now I think this makes us even. I've decided to "adopt" this gal--at least in pictures. I'm certainly NOT going to lift her up and carry her home!
"B-awk, B-awk, B-awk" (translation: "cluck, cluck, cluck" with a Florida accent) She's content with my decision.

I'm the kind of crazy person that would actually put one of those in their yard (backyard that is!) We had a giant cow in our neighborhood in FL and I love it!
I have never understood the penchant for decorating with roosters and chickens. The make good eating, but they're not very attractive creatures. That is a humongous one!

Now girl I loved the giant Roo and would have him in my yard...we have a neighbor that does have one that all painted out and some giant frogs on huge springs I kid you not...I told Len his place is starting to look like disneyland...He has knights in armour,Mountain lions, deers, foxes,moose and this is a beautiful rock castle home with all this stuff out in front...I have been trying to find some Pink flamingos to toss in his yard to complete the look ha ha!! No worries in this neck of the wood about palm trees, were surrounded by pine as far as the eye can see in any direction you look at!

Wow..thank you for suggesting the green beans and pickling..I am going to definately try it. I also like to just put hot pepper flakes into jars of sweet pickles I buy..yum!

I love that chicken. If I was shopping, I would talk my husband into buying me that chicken rather than a palm tree!
I also live in Zone 9. We have several King and Queen Palm Trees on our property. We also have another kind of Palm Tree, I don't know what kind they are, but they are over 40 feet tall! They are protected by some Palm Tree Ordinance in our city. LOL
