Bloggers are kindhearted people, but some are much more giving than others. Today, I have an example.



Generous Barbara from The Purple Goat Lady gave me these two beautiful blue and white animal ceramics made by Andrea by Sadek. I love them and have given them a place of honor in my home. See the darling custom note card she included in the background? How cute is that? She's the only person I know with official Blogger's note cards!

I'll admit that one of these looks a bit like me. Can you guess which one? Here's a close up of Piggy.

"Give them a home" ... HA! Folks, I admit it; I was piggish ... I begged her for them! When I spotted these babies on Barbara's blog this day, I shamelessly pleaded. Now you know which one I look like.

Pink Saturday - Ann's Giveaway!

Woo Hoo! Ann at Anne Fannie's Green Acres had a giveaway to celebrate her 200th post, and I won! She awarded a beautiful, handmade, Pink and white bird feeder to me here.

A huge package came in the mail Thursday while we were out. It was so big that the postal carrier left a note that it had to be picked up from the post office the following day. Take a look at the size of this package!


Here's how the bird feeder looked when Ann displayed it amongst her delightful daisies.

Look at the delicate Pink roses on this cup and saucer. Ann is so creative, and her work is precise. Check out her Etsy shop for some great gift ideas or if you're in the mood to pamper yourself.



(sigh) My setting is not so delightful, but the feeder adds a touch of beauty to my view.




Here it is, all set up and waiting for the first hungry bird to enjoy. Although it's a bird feeder, it could also be used as an ornament in a yard with a candle to help set the mood. Thanks, Ann!

Bloggers Must See This Movie

Johnny, Brittany, and I went to see Julie & Julia this week. The premise shows an interweaving of two separate stories about two very different ladies--all the while keeping food at the center. We see Julia Child in France before she learned the art of French cooking all the way to her tremendous success at publishing her cookbook.

Julie, a young married, bored with her life and government job, cooks to relieve stress. She decides to begin a blog while she cooks her way through Julia Child's cookbook. For that reason, this is a must-see for all bloggers. There's so much about "us" in it.

It's refreshing to see a film where both marriages are good ones; both couples enjoy each other and are deeply in love. I found myself smiling throughout the film. Note: there is some unnecessary profanity in it.

I remember watching Julia Child's television programs. Meryl Streep BECOMES Julia Child. What an actress! Although it is a chick flick, husbands will enjoy it--especially the competitiveness in the onion chopping scene. What a fantastic film! It gets a thumbs up from me.

On August 10th, I was awarded the Neno's award by Andrea at Arise 2 Write. The Neno's award is given to those who love blogging, love to encourage friendships through blogging, and who help others seek the reasons why we all love blogging.

This is the perfect bloggers award to be given in celebration of blogging (which the movie celebrates). Good timing, I'd say.

Spanish Moss

Susan at A Southern Daydreamer is the gracious hostess for Outdoor Wednesday. Participants post pictures of anything that they might find outdoors. Come join in.

An oddity in this new land where I've moved is Spanish moss or graybeard. It's also called Florida moss and long moss.

Spanish moss is not a true moss. It is an epiphytic plant, which make its own food. Read more about it here. It does not grow in South Florida, where I've lived for the past forty-five years, but it is all over the Tampa area. I took these pictures on two different days.






Some people think it's awful; some love it. What's your opinion?
