I am not as adept as many of you in decorating, but I want to share my blue Easter decorations.

Here's some faux chocolate eggs that I bought last year from Pier One. I placed them in a basket trimmed with Blue netting and ribbon.

Note the pale blue on the dinner bell?

I've had this blue marble egg for many years.

A sweet friend gave me this bunny a few years ago.

Notice his blue eyes.

He has one blue egg in his basket.

I bought this lacy, blue egg last year from the $ store.

Of course Easter is not about bunnies and eggs as much as it is about a Risen Lord and an empty tomb.

If you are a "blogspot" person, you might find problems getting pictures to load. It's a blogger thing. (sigh.) I'm sure it'll be fixed soon? What a day!

Happy Easter everyone and Happy Blue Monday!

Just Talk Like He's Your Friend

No one talks like this, but I know we've all experienced spoken prayer that sounds like this stilted conversation. Relax and speak to God as if He's your friend. He will be.

Expressions Explained, Part 8

At local taverns, pubs, and bars, people drank from pint and quart-sized containers. A bar maid's job was to watch the customers and keep the drinks coming. She had to pay close attention and remember who was drinking in pints and who was drinking in quarts.

Hence the term minding your "P's and Q's."

I probably should be ashamed to admit it, but I've never recycled before. It was a bit confusing. We didn't have any separate containers and would have had to cart our recycibles to the designated location, about a ten-minute drive.

However, in our new home, we were given two recycling bins from the county: one green for plastics and one blue for papers. Empty water bottles go into the green bin, but little else because I refuse to waste water by rinsing out other plastics. We live in a state with a drought, and water costs $$.

Since we get the newspaper each day, we seem to fill up the blue bin more quickly.

Isn't it fun to help the environment with such a pretty color? Do you recycle?

Most people on our block recycle. This is our offering for this past Friday's pickup.

Happy Blue Monday!
P.S. Please forgive me for getting Mr. Linky up so late!

A Stage They're Going Through?

We must pray for our young ones to follow Christ. It is not healthy--nor is it a stage they're going through--to sin. And, here's the "OUCH," Isaiah 53:6 says:
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

Expressions Explained, Part 7

Early politicians required feedback from the public to determine what the people considered important. Since there were no telephones, televisons, or radios, the politicians sent their assistants to local taverns, pubs, and bars. They were told to "go sip some ale" and listen to people's conversations and political concerns. Many assistants were dispatched at different times. "You go sip here" and "You go sip there."

The two words "go sip" were eventually combined when referring to the local opinion and, thus we have the term "gossip."

Common entertainment included playing cards in the 1700s. However, there was a tax levied when purchasing playing cards but it was only applicable to the Ace of Spades. To avoid paying the tax, people would purchase only fifty-one cards.

Yet, since most games require 52 cards, these people were thought to be stupid or dumb because they weren't "playing with a full deck."

God Is Good!

I am grateful for you. I am so very fortunate. So many people have been praying for me. Thank you for your prayers and concern.

The results are in; the biopsy is NON-cancerous! The baffled doctor admitted that he had expected quite another finding and agreed that it was a miracle.

However, he said that he still did not know what is wrong and that another surgery is necessary. Therefore, I ask that you continue to pray for me.

I am fortunate to have Jane in my family. She's an especially considerate person, and these flowers came from her. Knowing my love of things blue, she asked the florist for a mixture of blue and white flowers to be placed into a blue vase. It's hard to find blue flowers in the middle of winter, but I think that this is exceptionally beautiful arrangement with the blue vase loaded with the white blooms.

The vase is chock full of roses, lilies, daisies, baby's breath, and hollyhocks.

The card reads, "Feel better soon."
I AM feeling better today. Tomorrow, I get the results of my biopsy.

Thanks, Jane; they're almost as lovely as you are!

Happy Blue Monday!

Not A Thing to Wear

In the church I attend, people are welcome to come in whatever attire makes them comfortable. Although most ladies wear slacks, some ladies wear skirts or dresses; you won't find any men in suits and ties! I have seen young men in sideways caps, and in the South Florida church I previously attended, I often saw shorts.

The theory is that people will then be free to come and not worry about what to wear. How is it in your church?
