~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've had so many inquiring minds want to know how I decorated our new living room, so today, I'm going to show you. It might be fun to count how many Blue touches you see.
Before moving into the home, we had a crew of six painters come in and paint everything nine different colors. Four colors are used in this room. With such tall ceilings--they're 13'4"--I had to do something to use up the wall space above the sofa. I had an expert carpenter come in and place the trim molding according to sketch that I drew on a napkin. Didn't he do an excellent job?
This is called a cove ceiling. Everyone thought I was out of my mind using this dark trim. I stuck to my instincts, though, and kept the ceiling and walls a pale tan. However, afterward, people seem to agreed the dark color "made" that ceiling. I've shared the names of the carpenter and the painter with several local people who asked.
This is a shot head on. The 40" x 50" painting in the center pulls all the colors together. We found it at Kirland's. It was on sale. Cost: $99.
The coffee table is one I designed over thirty-five years ago. The top is Travertine marble and the trapezoid bottom is all mirrored.
Are you surprised? Did you expect more or less Blue?
Happy Blue Monday!
I love your new living room. I too would have chosen those colors. We have to listen to our hearts when it comes to trying something new. We love what we love, and your love is GREAT. Looks so pretty sweetie. The cove ceiling is beautiful.
I love the way you have framed your gorgeous picture on the wall. It looks so pretty, and the coffee table, well that is the element of surprise in this room. I have to tell you though, I love the blue jar near the window area. Just the right pop of blue with the light filtering through the window. Does it surprise me? No, you are just full of surprises. I love this post.
I bet you thought I was never going to get over here and join in did you? I guess I too, am full of surprises. I love it, and I will be back again sweetie. Thanks for hosting such a fun share of blues. I have really enjoyed myself.
Oh, Sally! I love what you did with this room. It is beautiful. And the curtain fabric is perfect. Love it all! The table you designed, the new painting, the molding (and yes, the dark makes a statement... it reminds me of molding I've seen in older homes) and the colors... it all looks lovely! Can't wait to see it in person.
Big hugs. I'm up "North" and trying to get a million things done. HELP!
Dear Sally, how beautiful. Your decorating is all you. I expected the colors but I didn't expect the molding and the lovely blue with the painting. A wonderful find and choice.
