Blue Monday - Blue Orchids!

Hello! It's Blue Monday! For complete instructions, just click here.

Today is Johnny's birthday. Our children and grandchildren will gather to celebrate, so I will be busier than usual. Please be patient with me.

See what other Blue participants have to share by clicking on their photos. Make someone's day when you wish them a Happy Blue Monday!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were shopping at Home Depot this past week, and look what we spotted! Blue orchids! Pots and pots of beautiful, Blue blooms, displayed right beside their plain, white brothers.
I couldn't believe my eyes, and so I took these shots to prove it.
Aren't they gorgeous?
The label says, "Blue Mystique." While snap, snapping away, a store employee walked by and explained that the gorgeous color is actually a Blue dye that has been injected into the stem of the original, white-blooming plant. When these Blue blooms die off, he explained, the new blooms will be white. I looked it up on the internet; for more information, click here.
I just KNEW it was too good to be true Blue!
Happy Blue Monday!
Please remove the photo "At five in the afternoon cape for scarlet and gold", not blue, I was wrong to raise. Thank you.
Now that's something you don't see everyday! Yes, they're gorgeous. And beautiful.
I had a blue orchid as a present for my birthday, but my guests did not know that the blue colour was fake. Still, I will enjoy it both as blue and as white!
Happy Blue Monday and Happy Birthday Johnny!
You have a sharp eye for blue, seeming to find the color wherever you go. Thanks for sharing your finds with us!
Sally, neat discovery in the Home Depot aisle.
Wow the orchids really took the blue nicely! I have seen that technique done to carnations and daisies a lot but never orchids. As a kid I remember making blue celery that way too, with food coloring... I had forgotten that "mad scientist" experiment until just now! LOL Amazing what a blue flower will provoke!
What an interesting process to make such gorgeous orchids! I may have to make a trip to Home Depot!
Imagine if orchids could really permanently be such a wonderful shade of blue? They are so beautiful!
That is a new blue for an orchid. They certainty would be an eye catcher. Seem there is not much that someone cannot do if you have the smarts.
Happy Birthday to Johnny! Hope you have a great time celebrating.
I love that shade of blue, although dying orchids seems just a little weird. But it certainly makes them stand out nicely.
Happy Birthday wishes to Johnny! The blue orchids are pretty, but blue iris would be the true blue deal. ;-)
Poznám tento spôsob farbenia kvetov. Doteraz som videla karafiáty, ruže, ale orchidey vidím prvý raz. Sú zaujímavé.
Prajem pekný týždeň.
I know this method of dyeing flowers. So far I've seen carnations, roses, orchids but I see first. They are interesting.
Have a nice week.
Hi Sally, I worked in the town gardens all morning and then visited my other sister who was in France with my other sisters. This sister lives right down town on Town Mountain. She brought me some French soap that smells delicious.
I have never seen blue orchids before. I imagined that they dyed them and I was right. HA! You can do that to carnations too.
My sister is here from Atlanta and on her way home she is going to the auction I have mentioned several times. I better close because she should be pulling in any minute. Off we go again. The auction is near Franklin. Hope I fins something great...CHEAP.
Love, Jeanne
PS: Yes, we could be related. Big smile here. Thank you for the lovely comment about our grands.
