The White House held an official state dinner this past Tuesday night in honor of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, using the brand new set of china: "Kailua Blue." It's the official china of the Obama administration. With 11-piece settings for 320 people, the china cost $376,000--all paid for by a private fund. Johnny did the math, and that comes to $115 each place setting.

Michelle Obama chose the "Kailua Blue" shade of Blue to reflect the Hawaiian waters where the family spends Christmas vacation. William Allman, the White House curator, said this "modern and fresh" Blue had never been used on White House china.

In addition, for the first time, individual tureens were added to be used for soup, dessert, or whatever the chef might imagine.

Hi Sally, thank you for Blue Monday. Today my blue is accessories added to the vintage medicine cabinet.

You find the most interesting facts to share, the official china is very sophisticated. Love the shade of blue.

Good morning Sally, Beautiful china in blue and gold. Imagine the cost of this presidential set of dishes. I am sure it makes a beautiful table setting.

This week is our week to sort items for our bazaar in July for missions. Gotta run. It seems like all I do is "run" so to speak. LOL. My sister's birthday party was a great surprise with 34 people here to celebrate. Family only.Fun times.

Happy Blue Monday.
Love, Jeanne

Thank you for hosting "Blue Monday". The color blue in the Obama's choice of dishes is pretty, EXPENSIVE! but pretty. So as not to get into any political views and opinions, I'll just say, I've been blessed to travel to Oahu and Maui, and the waters are that beautiful blue!!!! .. smile!!!! :)
