Now I'm Official!

Although I've been blogging since June 13th of this year, I knew that something was missing. I did not feel Official. Theresa from Take A Sentimental Journey gave me the tip I needed, and I found the magical item that will initiate me into Blogdom. Theresa suggested I try shopping at Ross. I knew where one was located, and not too far from me. Well, last Tuesday, I dragged Johnny along and off we went! Here's what we brought home.

Let's look inside the bag. Yes, it's a cloche! I am so thrilled that I can finally join the ranks of those who own a cloche. Now, I can fill it and post about it.

Here's how it looks now. I tossed some ornaments inside. I still need to tie a ribbon on, but it's a Christmas decoration! I'm so proud and happy. Thank you, Theresa.

Booking Through Thursday - 5 for Favorites

1. Do you have a favorite author?

2. Have you read everything he or she has written?

3. Did you LIKE everything?

4. How about a least favorite author?

5. An author you wanted to like, but didn’t?

My Response:
I just posted about my favorite author, Angela Hunt, a couple of days ago on my other blog. She's released a new title, Dreamers, and I reviewed it here. I've read twenty-two of her novels, but not everything she's written. I can honestly say that I liked everything, but of course there are some titles I LOVED!

¥es, I do have an author who I cannot bear to read, but I won't be unkind enough to mention his name. I suppose I could name Faulkner for #5.

How about you? Do you have a favorite?

I felt that this post needed some Christmas, so I copied the following from the December issue of Reader's Digest.

Ring My Cell Rock
(To "Jingle Bell Rock")

Ring my cell, ring my cell, ring my cell rock.
You're in the car, and bored, so you talk.
Call me 'bout nothing 'cause minutes are free
"Now I'm turnin' left," you tell me.

Ring my cell, ring my cell, ring my cell rock.
Ring all the time, I'm losing my mind.
Blather and chatter because you're my spouse.
Though you just left the house!

What a nightmare, it sits right there
To pass the time away.
Turn your phone on and you drone on:
"I had a cheese Danish today, yay!"

Nonstop yap, there's my cell ringin' again.
Clackin' around the clock.
I hear the ringle and wish I were single.
That's the ring my cell,
Jingle ringle bell,
That's the ring my cell rock

Hunting for Christmas

Johnny and I went shopping a few weeks ago to The Christmas Palace, a store containing everything Christmas. I posted about this earlier for a Pink Saturday. We just KNEW that we'd find what we "needed" inside this store.

We were looking for an outdoor nativity scene, as the one we've been using wore out; it actually broke apart last year. This beautiful set is quite elaborate, but it's for indoor use. It is enclosed in a glass display case that's had quite a few noses pressed against it--that's why it's a bit blurry.

Here's an outdoor nativity set, but it's only a little over 2 feet tall. That's too small for my taste.

This one was the correct size, but the faces look kind of spooky to me.

Here is the PERFECT set! We didn't buy it though, because it cost almost $700.00. Johnny said, "NO!"

We left empty-handed and discouraged. However, a couple of days before Thanksgiving, we went to good old Walmart and found our solution. It's 4 feet high and cost $40.00. It even lights up at night! Johnny put it in our front yard, and here it it:

Now, the hunt for Christmas is over.

PS Thank you to the people who gave me suggestions on yesterday's post. Birdwoman really left a good bit of helpful information, and I'm in debt to her.

Please Help!

We have a visitor. He comes every day. See him hanging from the window? Some of our windows are tinted so that the Florida sun won't run up our air conditioning bills, and this makes them a bit reflective. This bird thinks he has a friend, or maybe he thinks it's an enemy; I don't know. But he spends his life--day after day--rat-tat-tatting on my window pane! This has been going on for MONTHS!

I think that his ancestor is the bird who inspired Poe's The Raven. Like that bird, I wish he'd say, "Nevermore."

He's taking a bit of a break here. If you look down, you'll see him sitting on the window sill. He's a real problem. Not only is he noisy--I swear, sometimes it sounds like someone knocking on the front door!--but he's also messy. You know what birds leave behind (from their behinds!).

In addition to the home's tinted windows, the bird likes to rat-tat-tat on our car rear view mirror. His beak should be pretty sore by now, but he keeps coming back for more! Anybody in Blogland have any ideas how we can eliminate this problem? Please help.

BTW: I'm having TWO book giveaways. See my sidebar.

Folks, I'm most definitely "losing it!" I had the following picture all set to use for the Blue Monday BEFORE Thanksgiving--in other words, last Monday, but I forgot all about it!

I purchased the set a couple of years ago. Aren't they sweet? They have been in my Family Room; you can see "my husband's TV" right behind them. To the left is my problem blue chair that rolls. (I never got a workable solution for that!)

My pilgrims have now been packed up and put away for next autumn, and I've begun to decorate for Christmas. Please remember to leave me a comment. I am comment-addicted!
