Johnny and I went shopping a few weeks ago to The Christmas Palace, a store containing everything Christmas. I posted about this earlier for a Pink Saturday. We just KNEW that we'd find what we "needed" inside this store.
We were looking for an outdoor nativity scene, as the one we've been using wore out; it actually broke apart last year. This beautiful set is quite elaborate, but it's for indoor use. It is enclosed in a glass display case that's had quite a few noses pressed against it--that's why it's a bit blurry.
Here's an outdoor nativity set, but it's only a little over 2 feet tall. That's too small for my taste.
This one was the correct size, but the faces look kind of spooky to me.
Here is the PERFECT set! We didn't buy it though, because it cost almost $700.00. Johnny said, "NO!"
We left empty-handed and discouraged. However, a couple of days before Thanksgiving, we went to good old Walmart and found our solution. It's 4 feet high and cost $40.00. It even lights up at night! Johnny put it in our front yard, and here it it:
Now, the hunt for Christmas is over.
PS Thank you to the people who gave me suggestions on yesterday's post. Birdwoman really left a good bit of helpful information, and I'm in debt to her.
I like your solution, and I have to agree that the $700 set is beautiful. My hubby would have said no as well.
Your header is beautiful, too.
Have a good day, Sally.
I'm glad your hunt is over!! It sounds like you saved a good amount of money compared to the $700 that you wanted.
I have seen one of those on a neighbors lawn and it is very pretty....good choice!!! Maybe after Christmas that $700 one will be on clearance.....one can hope!
I think for the price you made a great outdoor choice. I'm on the hunt this year for an inside nativity...
I'm hoping to be able to do Blue Monday this week. I'll be in San Francisco. All this travelling at Christmas is cramping my blogging style :0)
Good morning, smiling Sally...
I just love your pretty nativity scene...it is just perfect!!
Ya'll did good!!
Good solution, even though I love the expensive one! Sally
I have seen those expensive ones and they are gorgeous. Although I would love to have one, it is a bit much for the front yard. The last few years have proven that there are some Scrooges around the area with the thefts of the infant from Nativity sets. Imagine that!!
I like that Nativity set. Not bad price either. Better than that $700. I would be nervous having that expensive one outside.
Sally that is pretty, I would love to see it all lit up at night! 700 bucks! and that's US dollars right! lol!!
Looks nice! I couldn't see spending $700 on a set, either.
Good Morning Sally... I am so glad you finally found a nativity that you were happy with... It is really nice... and look at all the money you saved...LOL I am glad you may have found an answer to your bird problem... I am going back and checking out bird woman’s answer... I may need it... Have a great Wednesday
Beautiful, tasteful, and it looks like a perfect size. I completely agree with your choice.
The Christmas Palace looks like a fun place.
Happy Wednesday, Kathy b
Yay! Sallyness! You found the perfect Nativity! I like this and the fact it will light up and I'll bet it will store easily!
I always know I can get the right amount of encouragment from you!
Be a sweetie,
I've learned to always check Walmart first before I go anywhere else to buy anything. And I'm so envious of anyone who actually has a yard to put a nativity scene in. Our condo has a balcony, but it's too small for anything more than a few strings of lights. Very good choice!
What a perfect set you picked out. I did notice all the blue :>)
Hi Sally, I am really late visiting today. My sister and I went on a hunt for deer meet. We drove seven hours on a round trip and brought home a freezer full. We do love venison.
Your hunt for Christmas resulted in a beautiful find. That is just gorgeous. I can just see it all lit up.
You are in the drawing for
tonight's give-a-way. Do you feel lucky?
That $700 is really nice, but too rich for me. I like the one you ended up with. Very nice!
I got my book, Lost and Found, yesterday! Thank you! I will post about it in a few days.
Very simple...and much nicer that $700!! I'm glad you got a good laugh from Tammy's post. When I read it I thought...everyone should see this!!! Every now and then I think that about a post...now I'll have a way to help at least a few people find something they might miss. I just wish there were more Wednesdays in a week! Have a great night!
Thanks sweet Smiling Sally! I needed that tour after the day I had. It helped me to dwell on those things that are lovely.
Sheila (hope you're warmer than we are here!)
Lovely choice and not too pricey! I enjoyed stumbling by your site today. Thank you.
I think you made a great choice Sally, it's fun to see all the other possibilities though. Enjoy your new display!
That was a beautiful nativity but for $700 you made the right choice. I've noticed a few around town here and they look nice. ~ Robyn
Great looking nativity scene. I am glad you finally found something you liked.
I love your new outdoor nativity! It sure beats paying 700 dollars!
Bet it is pretty at night.
I love your new outdoor decoration, Sally.
I love your new outdoor decoration, Sally.
