Clergy Appreciation Month

Spiritual Sunday can be found here. Stop by and see what others are offering.

Clearly, this is no way to treat your pastor. October is Clergy Appreciation Month. I found this poem that says how I feel. Let me share it with you.

Honoring God's Anointed

We often hear of the changes
That takes place in the churches of today
Where the morals and the values we held on to
Are constantly eroding away

A few adulterers
Are filling the pulpits worldwide
How it must grieve the heart of our Lord
As His standards are all pushed aside

But yet, still there remain many pastors
Who are not swayed to fit in with the few
They bring forth God's Word with all boldness
And are willing to withstand any test

They're not ashamed to uphold ALL God's truths
No matter how unpopular they may be
For they know we must adhere to EACH scripture,
And obey His commands faithfully

I'm so thankful that I have such a pastor
Who will stand and preach what we must hear
His desire is to reach all those listening
That we may grow and to God's presence draw near

I appreciate his hard work and dedication
Teaching us to walk the straight and narrow way
May God bless him for his steadfast commitment
To the Lord and to His people everyday

Sally this is a great post. I love the poem. I don't think we appreciate our clergy enough. If you don't mind I will copy this and pass it along to my church.

Good morning Sally. Thanks for sharing the poem. We really need to appreciate all the people in our life. There is so much negativity in this world. I am always moved by kind words. They mean so much.

take care,
Dawn

Hi Sally,
Thanks for this reminder. Too often we take our pastor and lots of others in our lives for granted!

I really like this poem. I try to encourage our preacher every Sunday with words of praise for his work with our congregation.

There are so many people in our lives that we tend to take for granted and forget to thank. Thank You for reminding us of one of them.

And I laughed when I saw your "sugar on the chin" comment ...too funny...thanks for the smiles!

Good advice. The last church we were with honored my husband each year. At churches we had been with previously, we nor they had even heard of Pastor Appreciation Day. Thank you for sharing this.
Blessings,
Charlotte

This poem is awesome, and it says everything that I have been thinking about my pastor. Thanks for the reminder...I know we don't always express our appreciation for them as much as we should.

Sally, Linda Lee is so right. Being a pastor is not an easy job. We need to tell him how we feel.. His reward should be loving and happy people in his Church loving him and and the Lord. And best of all telling him how much we appreciate him.

Hugs...Jeanne

Good Evening Sally; I loved the poem. It rings so true.
I was reading your Pink Saturday post, and I never Miss a show of Dancing with the Stars. I am so hooked on that show, and the one called So You Think You Can Dance that is great too. Have a great week.

hugs;

Thanks Sally for reminding me about Clergy Appreciation Month. Cartoon is is great. I completely forgot about it. My pastor Dr. Jay Wolf (First Baptist Church-Montgomery,AL) loves Jesus, the Word and his flock. Thanks for dropping by this morning and leaving a comment. Hilde is the best doxie delight I have ever had, an answer to prayer. May you have a blessed week-expect it:).

A good reminder. It is so easy to see the flaws or focus on things we disagree with rather than to "esteem them highly in love for their work's sake" (I Thess. 5:13).

If you plan on using my poetry, I would appreciate your posting it as it was written, and not change the words...
