Blue Monday - Girl with Lamb

It's Blue Monday! To participate:

1. Post about something blue on your blog. It can be pretty, ugly, funny, old, or new as long as it's blue. Leave a link to this blog on your post.

2. Place the Blue Monday button on the top of your post so that people can easily spot it. Place another
Blue Monday button on the sidebar of your blog.

3. Return here and link in with Mr. Linky by leaving your name and the
Permalink to your post. To create a Permalink, click on your Blue Monday post title and copy all the stuff in the http window. It is a longer address so that people can find your post even later in the week--whenever they get a chance to visit. For those who just can't wait, Mr. Linky will be up after midnight!

Do NOT link in until after your post is up.

4. Visit other Blue participants by clicking on their links. Make someone's day; leave a comment.
I appreciate it when you take the time to leave a comment for me.

5. Check back later to make certain you visit all the Blue participants. (That's why the Permalink is so important.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is a Lladro that I have titled, Girl with Lamb. Johnny bought her for me many years ago. Her colors are soft blue, tan and white. My curio cabinet is mirrored and you can spot some blue in the reflection. There's the cobalt blue art glass vase that I've shown, a blue coffee table book titled, Alpine Americas, and my soft blue pillow.
The Girl with the Lamb makes me think of William Blake's poem,
The Lamb
Little Lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?
Gave thee life, and bid thee feed,
By the stream and o'er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing, woolly, bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice,
Making all the vales rejoice?
Little Lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?
Little Lamb, I'll tell thee,
Little Lamb, I'll tell thee.
He is called by thy name,
For He calls Himself a Lamb.
He is meek, and He is mild;
He became a little child.
I a child, and thou a lamb,
We are called by His name.
Little Lamb, God bless thee!
Little Lamb, God bless thee!
how beautiful - after reading the poem it reminded me that we have song in The Salvation Army songbook which says
Like to lamb who from the fold has strayed - Far on the mountain, of the dark afraid, - seeking a shelter from the night's alarm, - longing for comfort of the shepherd's arm, - So Jesus found me on sin's mountain drear, - Gathered me close and banished all my fear...
and the chorus says
In the love of Jesus there is all I need, - While I follow closely where my Lord may lead; - By his grace forgiven, - In His presence blest, - In the love of Jesus, In the love of Jesus, is perfect rest. Judith
What a sweet little figurine ... and I especially like the poem. There's nothing more innocent looking than little lambs.
I'm pleased to participate in Blue Monday for the first time today, and look forward to becoming a "regular."
Thank you, Sally, for taking the time to be our hostess.
Sincerely,
Janie
Good morning Sally. I was so tired when I posted after midnight last night I did add a few words of thanks for the kindness of my blogging friends this AM. And guess what, Mr. Linky was kind too. He was there for me. BIG smile.
I scrolled down to your PS 'bird house' and love it. The tree is gorgeous and the birds a bonus. Very clever analogy. Love the Sun. cartoon and post too. Your Lladro is lovely and a sweet gift from your dh. Lucky you!!! Last the Irish poem so describes my dad, a true Irishman. Loved by all.
Hugs...Jeanne
Sally, I love that poem by Blake! I have a book of his work, and that is a favorite, for sure! :-)
Just wanted to tell you that although I spent Saturday pullling together a post, I think I'm going to wait and post it later. Lots of insanity going on here today trying to get ready for that rehearsal dinner on Friday. Tomorrow and Wednesday are my only free days this week. I always try to visit everyone who posts, and I just don't have the extra two+ hours I need to do that today. I tried to stay up last night to link, but I fell asleep and just got up. That's a good thing after a week of insomnia. LOL!
I always miss you when I don't post on Mondays, but I will be back. I love you and I love blue and I'm a friend who's tried and true! ;-) Methinks I've been bitten by the rhyming bug...
XO,
Sheila :-)
The Quintessential Magpie said...
Oh, and Sally, I think that your figurine is lovely and the prefect mate to Blake's poem. :-)
XO,
Sheila who needs to go back to bed for the day!!!
